I still stick to the fact this series is amazing visually, and it does have strong writing levels but I felt something was off in episode 1 with the betrayal of her own parents trying to sabotage her becoming a full witch then episode two I was like why is she being conned by this girl into some kinda trap, now these two stories and the correlation to her old "favorite" stories makes me think totally different on this series. Assumptions were that the "travels of Nike" were happy and go lucky kids tales but that hardly seems the case and maybe this world and each country isn't some sparkly journey after all?

At what point did her parents betray and sabotage her? They wanted her to learn about failure and setback, thats neither betrayal or sabotage, but trying to teach Elaina something she needs. Her mom even clearly states the reasoning, which makes perfect sense.

Strange Nino had her clothes loosely on when she came from the masters study. I think she is forced to do sexual things. And the way he looked at Elaina was kinda like. "Too old for my taste". I fear she will be toi damaged in her mind to ever recover.

This is a great episode. What do we know about Elaina's world? Not much. Witches must get certified by other witches, they are powerful and at the top of the social ladder, but what 'political power' do they hold? Could Elaina destroy that field of flowers? She may have the power but it is part of the ecosystem and there may be a variety of ramifications. Could she free Nino? Apparently slavery is legal and she has no evidence Nino is being "grossly" mistreated. Should Elaina take a moral stand the audience feels "WE" would make? Even historical revolutionaries don't make a grand stand the first time they witness injustice. In the real world Elaina's age would place her a good decade away from even beginning to impose her influence upon the world. Many viewers will want a hero's journey but this is "Eliana's journey" and at this point we don't know what kind of arc is in store for us.
