Something you learned from anime... I often see anime where an MC lives alone & his parents are out the the country or just elsewhere. Well, I learned that high performing high schools in Japan often don't allow transfers. If you leave that school they will force you to start as a freshman at the next school you attend. So, it is not THAT uncommon for kids to live alone junior/senior year because their parent transfer but want them to graduate on time.
