Enlighted are humans that evolved into Demi-spiritual lifeforms, they have the potential to stand on even footing with Demon Lord Seeds, like the original Geld, Clayman, Frey or Carrion. The next level would be Saints, having evolved fully into Spiritual Lifeforms that are freed from most human limitations and while still mortal have extremely long lifespans. They have the potential to stand on even footing with True Demon Lords (the lower end, not the likes of Guy and Millim). That said in contrast to Monsters awakening as True Demon Lord, humans undergo a transitional phase where their body acclimates to the power and transforms, that phase can take anywhere between mere moments to centuries depending on the individual. (Then there are also Hero's Eggs and True Heroes, what Leon was before becoming a Demon Lord, the actual counter part to Demon Lord Seeds and True Demon Lords but that's a different story for later)

He is a demon lord by title but an awakened hero by status. He only became part of the demon lords because he killed the person who’s seat he holds due to them annoying him.
