Important info regarding a Patreon change. (Patreon)
Content
As of December 18th Patreon is planning on changing who absorbs the fees for their platform, it's essentially switching from being solely eaten by the creator to being shared between the creator and their patrons. This is not a change I have opted into, this is a site-wide change that is being instituted for everyone.
This change is designed to give creators a consistent amount of money each month, rather than have their income waver between 80-88% of the number listed on their pages. While I personally wouldn't mind my Patreon income being a bit more consistent I do acknowledge that for people pledging to my page (and even more so to those pledging $1), this change could be the difference between you continuing to pledge or not, as a $1 pledge will suddenly cost the patron $1.38, and I know oftentimes in scenarios where someone is pledging $1 that is quite possibly all they are comfortable with giving, so essentially increasing the price of that could cause issues.
Just to be clear, this change increases everyone's pledges somewhat, it just disproportionately affects $1 patrons as it increases their pledges by the highest percentage.
With all that said I would just like to say that for those of you who have continued to pledge to me for so long and know that this will force you to abandon your pledge to this page, I appreciate all the support you've given me, and I hope you are able to return someday. If you plan on continuing to pledge but are unhappy with this change I recommend contacting Patreon directly and letting them know as, again, I have no control over any of this.
