Content

Hello! Just wanted to ask everyone for some feedback regarding staggered releases (I.E., backers get the videos early). I've always enjoyed being relatively open with my content, but for the first time ever, I felt kind of guilty releasing Tina Doms Marie at the same time on here as on public platforms.

Now, my motivations would not be to lock content so much as to reward backers and make it more beneficial; everyone here allows me to do this, and this might be another way to show appreciation/provide value.

If I were to do this it'd probably be something like "two weeks early for Barons, 10 days early for Dukes, one week early for Landowners, 3 days early for Nobleman." This would potentially start after Jinx Machine Tickling, as I wouldn't want to renege on anyone who subbed during that time.

Anyway, just wanted to get your feedback and see if I'm overlooking anything! I know this is a pretty common thing for artists to do, but as always, I want to do what's fair, and do right by everyone here.

  Thank you!

Well logically (assuming im understanding you right) the higher tier backers should get first look. Maybe top tier first week then keep going down the line each week? Just my thoughts

Obviously I can only speak for myself, but early access to your work is not why I support you. I have no issue with others getting your work at the same time I do.

hmm actually that makes a lot of sense to me. i love ur tickling stuff so on those projects id up my pledge cuz i wanna see it right when it comes out. (lol supply and demand amiright? XD) (and i definitely wanna support u the most if its something im interested in, then in between those i just kinda hang around at a couple bucks for min pledge)

I'm not enthusiastic about staggered releases or exclusive content. I support in hopes of content I enjoy getting made; temporary exclusivity doesn't do anything for me. I find timed releases generally just sap my enthusiasm and leave a bad taste. If I can't access the initial release, I tend to forget about the content by the time it becomes available. But I get that you're running a business, and I can't blame you for making that choice.

If instituted, it would be something like that. Probably not a full week, but starting at two-weeks for Barons and than going through the line.

Your work is among the best out there. I feel you are absolutely in the right if you should add timed releases.

Neraced

Personally I don't mind a simultaneous release to the public, and it eliminates the problem other creators have of people posting their (temporarily) exclusive stuff around the net so that when the creators themselves post it the public has already seen it elsewhere.

JC

For myself, I am in purely to support your work. How you choose to release your content is your right and not something I'll have problem with how is done =)

I'm not fond of the staggered release among patrons. The way I see it we're already pledging money to support a creator. I get that you're trying to run a business but if the animation is complete and ready to see the light of day, then why not let the people who are pledging see it first? And let it apply to all tiers. It makes sense that all the patrons gets to see it before the public but further walling it off among supporters just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Obviously it's not the same as a higher tier having more voting power or being able to see WIP or proof of concept or even scrapped images/animations. I'm totally okay with not having access to that but if the project/animation in question is done, 100% complete with audio and anything then I think the patrons should get first dibs on it or just release it at the same time for everyone. Just my $0.02

+1 , I think I'm 3/4 out of the tiers- but it would be super shady to time gate content within patrons itself. I don't care in the slightest if people that pay less than me have the same access at the same time- I'd be happy they can support at all. Especially with the current economic situation in the world. I can get time gates to encourage people to pledge- but just be happy they pledge period.

Oh believe me, I'm grateful for any level of pledge, which is why I'm asking for feedback before instituting anything (and this might not happen at all). Always want to do right by everyone here. I think the idea of just having a blanket early release for ALL backers might be a good middle ground, but I'll continue thinking things over, and I appreciate the input, Capt.J and AlphaZulu!

Getting content a little early has never been much of a factor in determining my pledge level for any creator. A few weeks after a release it's all a wash, anyway. Things like access to polls, truly exclusive content, or just wanting to support someone are what I consider. All of which is to say, if others feel the same way as me, staggered content releases would just be a hassle for you with no great benefit.
