Another thing in that vein is the old Paul Gilbert classic to skip the 7 in every octave that gives you the exact same shape across all the strings. So in. Am that would give you 5-7-8 on The low E and A string. Move up two frets for the next two strings and do 7-9-10 a three frets for the last two strings and get 10-12-13. Then in true PG fashion move up two frets and descend in the same style 15-13-12 and so on. Really easy for alternate picking as well and impressive looking since you cover a lot of distance on the fretboard.

For sure that's a great one, The classic three octave run. He's also somewhat of a proponent of the pick-2-hammer-1 method that gives the illusion of straight alternate picking. Of course he also would get involved in many shenanigans like tuning three adjacent strings to the same note in different octaves and then running 135 arpeggios on each one. Picking with a power drill of course.
