Turns out that some of the scripts that I had set up in Unity for the horses and the buffalo didn't work out super well, so I had to manually animate a lot of extra sequences in Maya. But all the horse scenes are finished now, and I can finally move on!

I don't remember if I ever mentioned the original length of this episode in a previous post, but it was planned to be around 4 minutes long when I started, and now it's getting close to 6 minutes. It's kind of like what happened with the Friday the 13th episode, except I managed to finish that one in two months. So the lesson here is that NES sprites are faster than PSOne models. Remember that lesson, kids.

Anyway, the character animation for the ending sequence is all done, I just have to change some things in the environment and record the footage. The other scene is a little bit more complicated because it's Luna knife fighting a bear. If you've seen the original TBFP video, then you know that this fight is a weird janky mess. And my version is going to be different, but I still want to preserve some of that original jank.

In my last update,I talked about some of my Unity problems, and how much I hated the way that it handled animation. But I found this plugin called Cinemachinethat solves all of my cameraissues! it automatically tracks and follows characters, there are options to simulate a handheld style, you can transition between different cameras and the movement updates in real time. Complete game changer, now I'm actually having fun when I'm working. And it's an official free asset pack, I can't believe it took me this long to find out about it. I love this thing!

So, yeah. That bear scene is going to be a doozy, and based on my progress these last few days I think that all the Mayaand Unity animations will be done before the end of April. But I still have to clean things up in after effects, add the UI, finish the sound editing and make some artwork for the video. All that extra work is probably going to push the episode back to the first or second week of May. I'm sorry this is taking so long, guys =/

Take all the time you need mate! As someone who is currently studying game development and struggling with moving assets between different software, I find your insight really fascinating. Can't wait to play the finished product /)

At least now if you do any future projects with this software, you'll already know what to do.
