Gothic Scouts? (Patreon)

This is one of my second passes at the Celestial Sailors collection I designed in 2020, shown in the second pic. I wasn't happy with the old designs because the rainbow gradients were cool in theory but to me looked tacky in a group. I think I was trying too hard to combine too many aesthetics, so I'm going to try focusing on each aesthetic separately. Will help pad out the artbook too, hehe...

You've seen my attempt at the celestial aesthetic before. For this collection I wanted to focus on the dapper black-and-white aesthetic of the old designs. I'm going to keep the simplistic filigree of the weapons and lace in this series, and that's the main guide for this aesthetic. 

In my head, these illustrations are going to be much more art nouveau-y and stylized than my usual artwork - maybe keeping the skin white to make them feel dolllike? (Pluto wouldn't be white, but her skin tone would be much more muted.) 

So "gothic" isn't technically the right descriptor for these, it definitely wasn't the vibe I was intending 😆 Other name ideas included "Dapper Scouts" and "Art Nouveau Scouts", but it'll be easier to pick a name once I actually draw these out. We'll figure it out then!

(Full disclosure, I drew these designs sometime last year so they are old but I'm working on game stuff atm! I'm also going on Instagram hiatus again, but I do have some commissions to work on so will be still be sharing art here.)
