Progress update on various things!

Witches Pack

If you haven't seen my latest post, West Witch and North Witch are done - I'll tweak North Witch a tad, but she's mostly done. I'm working on East Witch now and I'm gonna aim to have her done before the end of the month.

Here's a rough repaint where I planned which parts to change. I'll go further in-depth about the updates when she's complete.

Old version for reference:

Fashion Game Progress

I'm so hesitant to share where I'm at knowing that it might change again later 😅 So take all of this with a grain of salt!

I've decided to try making the game a life sim, a genre which includes Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, two of my favorite games. This means that instead of having various levels where you make different outfits, you'd have an ongoing studio where you can design different outfits. I still want to incorporate merging puzzles when you make clothes in the studio, but it's more of a crafting method. I really want to make the kind of game I would play myself, but I still have to keep the scope realistic.

So unlike those two games, you won't get to walk around and explore a town, you click around locations on a map of the fashion school to talk to people or explore locations.

(These are all placeholders btw, don't take any of this as final)

I feel like customizing your outfit is rly important in a fashion game and I just don't think I can draw walking animations for hundreds of possible outfits. I'd rather stick a detailed portrait in the corner, which would be much easier to customize.

I wanted to end the blog with a couple of questions for you all:

1) Does this technically turn the game into a visual novel? Do life sim games always have to involve walking and exploring?

2) Is there anything you are personally hoping or expecting to see in a game about fashion?
