For the last week of my month of gamedev, I designed the fashion school that I want the game to be set in. I'm no architecture expert, but my goal was to create a university campus (no minors sorry) didn't look like other universities. All buildings have this "crystal dome" theme to them, like if Swarovski made a university!

There are three main buildings:

SCHOOL: The main building, of course. Classes take place here, but this is also where you'll find cafes, clubs, research labs, libraries, dances, social events.

DORMS: A tall tower that stands out for its multicolored windows -- students get to display their works like the Bergdorf Goodman windows in NYC. The richest, most privileged students get penthouse apartments in the dome on top, where each student gets an entire floor to display their designs. You'll not only get to customize your room, but customize your display window!

ARENA: The school is famous for its highly televised fashion competitions that take place among its students. The Arena is where the competitions take place, and elite socialites will buy up tickets to watch these legendary runways.

Retrospective

After taking this month to focus on my game, I've been able to code a core game mechanic and build my world further. I'm really happy with that amount of progress tbh! I had the idea to make a game back in December, but I spent so long unsure what I wanted to make, and I feel like I made more progress this month than I did in the last 10.

You've noticed that I was still drawing this month, but I felt like I was drawing because I wanted to and not just because I needed an Instagram post. It just so helps that each drawing adds an extra week for me to chill, haha. Posting the art way after I'm done means I'm less invested in it, so I don't obsess over how it's doing. I also think not having the pressure to post every week allowed me to explore my art further, and between color palettes and experimenting with textures I'm really happy with where my art is going.

So overall this was a good month for me artwise, and I think it helped my mental health a lot when it came to my art. I think I'm going to try working out a similar schedule like this for the future, where I create backlogs of Instagram posts in order to dedicate full weeks to my game. I think the idea of a fashion game that is more than just a dress-up game is something worth pursuing and it feels like everything I'm cut out for. I just hope the audience is there.

I hope you'll be interested in this game because I'm really excited to make it, and please give me feedback whenever! I want to do everything I can to make this game something you would want to play.

This is exquisite Gii. Concept, mechanic, aesthetic, theme/story... it's all very palpable and immediate, which is super powerful place to be. I don't know if you'll find your audience cause that itself is also a challenge and a skill, but I know you're making something worthy of an audience and I do genuinely believe there's a sizeable audience out there for what you're making. The strides you've made with mental health and your relationship to your art are also heartwarming and frankly inspiring. Glad to hear it.
