Hope everyone had a great Christmas this year! Christmas in Australia means holidays with long, sunny days (although it did rain on Christmas this year here which is pretty odd) which are perfect for doing chemistry.

I’ve gifted myself some new element samples and am excited to do some inorganic chemistry.

There’s some colourful rhodium chemistry I will attempt, assuming we can dissolve it into solution okay… pictured is the 1/2 a gram sample I have- wasn’t cheap! But it is fun to work with such a rare element.

With the germanium- I’m hoping to make some bismuth germanate glass. Might be a really long episode, as we need GeO2, and to get there from Ge we might have to go via GeCl4, but it’ll be a lot of fun if it’s perhaps an hour episode of Extract&Ire, and it’s definitely the time of year for me to attempt such a thing.

Also coming up will be a Cubane wrap up video, answering some Q&As about it. Also I plan to edit together all the Cubane videos into one, incredibly long single video… just several hours of uninterrupted chemistry… it’ll be nothing new but some people really like this sort of extreme long format content, so it sounds like fun.

Haven’t worked out what I’m doing for the next Ex&Fire, but we haven’t had some good explosions in a while, so we are overdue for a proper explosives episode I think. Or at least an obscure explosives episode! Gotta blow some things up!

Hi there. I recently dropped out and re-enrolled into Uni so I see myself in need of a nice lab coat. I would love to have a lab coat with the ex&f logo on there. Already have a normal one but that one is for the corpse's, still need one for chem

Merry New Years Mate! Excited for your project to drop. Also, how long did your shipment from Onyxmet take? Mine is taking over a month so I got a feeling it is actually on a ship lol. P.s keep rocking us with your unique science humour this year, thanks.
