Hello everyone!
I have to apologise for making everyone wait for new videos. There was a hope that after my break last year, I'd be back with more consistent uploads, but it hasn't worked out like that.
The boring details are that my PhD funding ran out mid last year (a bit unexpectedly) so I went to part time on it, and picked up some part time research work for another lab. A pretty good opportunity, and it meant that financially I've been fine. And on paper, it seemed like I might actually have more time for videos?? But turns out doing the PhD part time has been very hard... it's very hard for me to tell myself "Ok you're only going to think your PhD for 2 days this week". Especially when I've got random deadlines from various things. But one day I will be done with it all! One day!!
Anyway! I've decided the next video will be a chaotic 'nitrating a McDonald's meal'. We will be seeing how flammable/explosive we can make each component of a McDonald's meal. The meat. The buns. The nuggets. The tomato. The napkin. The cup. The milkshake.
I've got a lot of nitrating to do! I'm hoping for the video to come out in March. That's a while away I know and it's frustrating for me, but making it a great video will hopefully make up for it!
Also to help with the video, ThoughtEmporium has sent me some freeze dried McDonald's food. It's been sitting around in vacuum sealed bags for a while, waiting for me to have time for the project. I don't want to open it too early and have it go off! But soon I will open it... and I'll show you all first. I'm honestly excited to eat a lot of it too, ThoughtEmporium said it actually tastes pretty good!
I've also got the XeF2 sitting around waiting. Took many months for it to arrive! But it is all mine now, and one day I will open it....
Thanks for your support as always!
Oh and I made an appearance on the Safety Third Podcast again, it'll be uploaded in a few weeks. I'm not the interesting guest though... there's someone much cooler on alongside me.
