Hi everyone!

As always thanks for hanging in here while I'm on break. It seems like early Nov is still the go for next Explosions&Fire video (which will be about concentrated hydrogen peroxide). That's not too far away so I'm looking forward to it!

I'll be doing some small changes here with Patreon in preparation with the new videos, so there'll be an increase in posts here as things get back to life. I'll be jumping around the tiers a little, I hope that doesn't cause too much drama, the main reason I'm doing this is because I'd like to put people's name actually in the end credits of the video itself.

When I first started the Patreon, people actually read the descriptions of videos, and the name list wasn't too small. Putting a patreon credit list in a video wasn't really a thing either. But it certainly is now! And I feel a bit behind the times with a name list in the description.

So I'm plan for the tiers are:

$1 - joining in. Early access to videos and early notification/access to merch

$4 (up from $3) - Name at end of the video. Merch discount codes! (That's new! Will talk about merch soon!!)

$7 - previous rewards + request a drawing for the chalkboard! As before

$20 - previous rewards + listed as top Patreon in end credits. Removed the 'guest in the description bit', as it didn't seem to be that popular with anyone.

I welcome feedback if you've got some feelings about this all, either positive or negative!!!

Thanks!!

Oh and to make this post somewhat interesting, I've attached some slow mo footage of silver nitrotetrazole blowing up, recorded earlier this week. I'm slowly getting better at the Chronos camera, it takes a bit of work! Is nice when it works out well.

Tom!

Files

More high speed footage

silver nitrotetrazole, shot at around 15,000fps. Upscaled 200% with TopazAI, just so the quality isn't frighteningly low during the main video, as the native resolution is 336x240p.

Oi I used your Benzene being back joke in a Pull request for a bug that won't go away at work today and felt I should pay for licensing.

Nope just a work around that makes everything worse but it's easy to do so people keep doing it.

Tom, I saw you using pH paper to-day. I bought an excellent pH meter off Amazon or ebay for like $25. When I started my career, our lab paid $500 for a pH meter ($5000 in today money). I worked for Beckmaan who invented the pH meter (maybe commercialized) I tried to unionize the lab and got fired!! fun times!
