Happy December, Nintendo Force fans! Got a grab-bag update for you today, so let's tackle one topic at a time.

LIMITED-TIME OFFER: $18 FOR ALL 2018 ISSUES IN PRINT

http://www.nintendoforcemagazine.com/product/the-18-2018-bundle/

We printed too many extra copies of our issues this year! I've got too many boxes of extras sitting around the office here (and elsewhere in the home, to my wife's dismay), so for a limited time we're offering the lowest price we've ever offered before for a Full-Year Bundle: You can get print copies of every 2018 NF issue for just $18! But only from now until December 18th! After that, the price will go back up to normal year-end levels.

Most of you patrons here already have copies of all these issues in your possession, but I still wanted to highlight the offer here to help with your holiday shopping! This would be a great bundle of issues to wrap up and gift to your Nintendo-fan friends. And all the extras the issues originally included are here too, like the Limited Run Games trading card that's bundled with Issue #33 and the super-sized, double-big wall posters bundled with Issues #34 and #36.

I know you all have some friends who are hyped for Smash and would love that giant Smash poster on their wall. :)

See it in the NF Store right here: http://www.nintendoforcemagazine.com/product/the-18-2018-bundle/

CONTRIBUTE TO THE NEXT NF ISSUE!

We've just a couple weeks away from publishing NF Issue #37, and, as always, we need input from the fans to fuel our Inbox section! Please jump into the Comments of this post and answer the following Player's Poll questions:

1. Shovel Knight first launched back in 2014. Have you played it? If so, when and on what system? If not, why have you not played it yet?

2. With Shovel Knight finally nearing completion, what game do you think Yacht Club Games should take on next?

3. Finally, a few of the characters in Shovel Knight were made by fans. If you were to add another character to his world, who would you create?

(Bonus points if you come up with artwork for that last question and tweet it to us @NintendoForce.)

DON'T ANGER THE OX!

You could also see your name appear in print if you submit a question in the Comments below to be answered by The Ox. Ask anything! On any topic! And we'll see if it triggers his anger or not. :p

MAGZTER UPDATE

Finally, a bit of bad news: It looks like we might have to move on from Magzter. They're the company we've been working with to provide eReader/tablet versions of our digital issues, and everything's been smooth up until a few weeks ago when they decided to change their policies and not allow publishers to send out complimentary copies of our issues any more. What's more, they're trying to start charging publishers massive annual fees to stay in their storefront – too massive to be worth it. So we'll likely be phasing out our support of Magzter soon and looking for a new option. In the meanwhile, Digital and Combo subscribers will continue to receive the PDF versions of each new issue like normal, so digital NF issues aren't disappearing!

CONCLUSION

That's all for now! I'm going to put my head back down and keep digging away at the new Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove issue to get it ready for you all in just a couple more weeks! This one's shaping up really well, as we've got incredible support from Yacht Club Games, who've provided awesome artwork, a hilarious exclusive interview and more. Please look forward to reading it as you wake up out of your Super Smash Bros. Ultimate coma in a few weeks!

Hello, the Ox! I was wondering if you like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Shrek Superslam better as your go-to fighting game!

1. I first played Shovel Knight in late 2014. I first got it on 3DS but ended up getting it on Vita and then WiiU (Vita has a better d-pad and WiiU can play it on a TV with the Wii classic controller). I love the game so much that I got it on PS4 to complete the physical collection. 2. I’m hoping for a continuation of the story in 16-bit, either a top-down adventure like A Link to the Past or a story-rich RPG like Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana. Maybe a Shield Knight story or maybe they have a child skilled in both shovel and shield. But I'm sure anything they make will be great and I'll buy it at launch. 3. A sensei character that teaches Shovel Knight new abilities and offers cryptic wisdom to guide the player.

1. Amazingly, I've played Shovel Knight on three consoles at this point: PC, 3DS, and Switch. Yacht Club are so ridiculously generous with their content that it felt right to buy it several times!

Christian S

2. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a 3D Shovel Knight in the style of the Nintendo 64. It could even function as a sort-of "what may have been" if Capcom had published a more typical Mega Man adventure on that platform back in the '90s, given Shovel Knight's similarity to the Blue Bomber's level structure.

Christian S

3. Perhaps a sentient Shovel? It would be funny to see Shovel Knight confronted by a speaking version of the tool he'd been hopping around on. Ideally it would chide him for his rough treatment.

1. Shovel Knight first came into my possession in the form of the switch version, after I had seen my friend occasionally play it on his 3DS. It served as a nice treat after having played hundreds of hours of BOTW and finally being done with that game.

Would love to get these, but on the website only US shipping is available?

I've been wondering why recently every time I go to the store I get an error message. Has this been happening to others or is this just my problem?

Dear Ox, with the Wii Shop Channel shuttering many great exclusives (like Fluidity, Castlevania ReBirth, and Sexy Poker) will be unavailable legally to those who didn't already purchase them. What is your opinion on these great (and not so great) games becoming unavailable for purchase?

As someone who primarily reads the digital version of your magazine, I could care less about Magzter. As long as I have a PDF im happy 👍

I refuse to buy Breath of the Wild because the Dungeons are terrible. Go.

Question 2: Honestly, once Yacht Club is done with Shovel Knight, I would love to see their attempt at capturing the essence of a different era of gaming. In whatever they feel passionate enough about to do it of course. A love-letter to the SNES/Genesis era platformers would be amazing. Shovel Knight related or not.

Whatever Yacht Club Games does with their next game, they need to not be as ambitious/generous with their DLC. All they promised on the Shovel Knight Kickstarter was to make the other Knights playable. Instead, they basically gave away two free games! It is nice to see them as the opposite of... *some* companies... that don't give you *one* full game for the price of one...

1. I first played Shovel Knight in 2015 on the Wii U, but I never got past Polar Knight's stage. I bought it again for the Switch in 2017, beat all of the campaigns, and had a great time. 2. I'd like to see Yacht Club make another original game and do what they did to innovate platformers with another genre. It doesn't have to be Shovel Knight related, I'd buy it for that Yacht Club-charm. 3. I would introduce my own knight, Gourmet Knight! As a master chef, he'd fight with a barrage of kitchen utensils, and multitask fighting and cooking. The apples and turkey have to come from somewhere, right?

Pokedude14

1. I played it back when it came out, one the 3DS. 2. I honestly don't know, bit with their track record, it will be good regardless. 3. I would have a former order member who now runs an inn, Night Knight.

Do you think that we will get a second fighters pass for smash?

Anonymous

I first played Shovel Knight on the PlayStation platforms. I went through a dark time as a trophy hunter. The game was a blast. Sadly, just after finishing the main game, my system bricked when an update went wonky and I have never played any of the other campaigns. That game is right at home on a handheld and come the physical release in April, it will be on my hybrid handheld again. Looking forward to it.

Have only played Shovel Knight (and the two expansions) on the 3DS. It's my preferred platform because of the portability. Looking forward to continuing the adventure with King of Cards on my 3DS in April 2019!

Anonymous

I would ask if they plan on supporting the 3DS with new games after the release of Shovel Knight King of Cards. I would love if indie developers continue to keep the e-shop fresh past 2019 without turning all their attention to the Switch.

"Greetings" Mr. Ox, a few of my friends are dissapointed at how the Ultimate roster turned out. No Waluigi? Banjo-Kazooie? But personally, I'm not THAT torn up over their absence. NO. The REAL snub is the conspicuous and wholly-unaccountable absence of the ORIGINAL Donkey Kong- now known as Cranky Kong. This great ape was Nintendo's first true star, taking top billing over Mario and Pauline. But NOW, he's reduced to living in his cabin, griping about those no-good upstarts and occasionally riding on his dimwitted son's back. I, for one, DEMAND that we pester Sakurai and Nintendo endlessly until they bring Cranky Kong into Smash and end this travesty of injustice!

Not for nothing, but I’m ok with NF separating from Magzter. A lot of junk e-mail came from that.

1. Shovel Knight first launched back in 2014. Have you played it? If so, when and on what system? If not, why have you not played it yet? I first played when it released on Wii U. I then got it physically for 3DS (Man it's always so frustrating when physical versions are announced after its already out digitally!) 2. With Shovel Knight finally nearing completion, what game do you think Yacht Club Games should take on next? Either Metroid 5 for Nintendo, or Mega Man X 9 for Capcom, using SNES style sprites and that sweet metal music. 3. Finally, a few of the characters in Shovel Knight were made by fans. If you were to add another character to his world, who would you create? A 2D Yooka Laylee, and Shovel Knight entered a new dimension for their game, and they could lose one to join his game.

I ordered some back issues because of this deal, but then I missed the deadline for the digital downloads. It was only like a 1 week period! Can we not get a longer window of time to download the issues we buy? It's kind of ridiculous. Anyway, hopefully the links sent to me can kindly be renewed. Anybody else have this annoying problem?

Anonymous

I am Mark. I'm often away for months at a time and don't get around to them. I had a subscription since issue 2 and would like the links re-sent to me.

I bought Shovel Knight on the Wii U. Completed the initial campaign and played a bit of each of the later story additions. I love it! It’s the game that just keeps giving. Sidenote: I also bought the SK amiibo and have the next batch pre-ordered.

I've been playing Shovel Knight since day one launch. First played it on Wii U and since then downloaded Specter of Torment of Switch. I plan to buy the definitive edition when it releases physically on Switch. I'm very eager to see Yacht Club Games dish out a sequel to Shovel Knight but I'd be equally excited to see what new games they can come up with too. I think I'd give Shovel Knight some kind of trusty steed or an animal companion much how Black Knight has his Terrorpin. Now that I think about it, it'd be fun to see some kind of loyal animal companion for the other knights of the Order too!

From Canada, would love the option for it to be shipped up north too!
