I have a very interesting and fun life, most of the time.  this week was no exception.

For the past 7 days I have been gifted a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C 300 Cabriolet, to basically put through the paces and enjoy to the fullest. I did just that.

Here's the details from MB:

First of all i have to say that this car is truly amazing, it's a spaceship to planet smile.  incredibly sure-footed, even in snow and ice, quick and powerful at the jump, and a true pleasure to drive.

I'll talk about the looks a little later, but let's start with the interior. you can't talk about the car without talking about all of the gadgets, bells and whistles that i'm sure will become standard on many cars in the next five years.  an amazing stereo system that works directly with your phone, and sirius radio so i can listen to the news and my music from like a hundred different speakers placed all over the cabin.  the system is all routed through what is basically an Ipad mounted on the dash that controls the navigation system, the stereo and just about everything else in the car.  i'm sure my mom would prefer more cup holders, but there is more storage space inside than you would expect in what is, by all definitions, a sports car.  the thing that drew the most attention from all of my passengers though were the heated seats.  oh my god, how in the world do people live without heated seats.

the car drives exactly as you would expect it to, except for the shifter on the tree instead of a proper gear shift, which took a little getting used to.  this model was an automatic, i would have preferred a standard, but beggars can't be....  Nevertheless you really cant beat the punch of putting the gas pedal to the floor and really letting it go.  i danced around 100 miles an hour more than a couple times and didn't feel shaky or insecure at any point.

the trunk is a joke, but, well, it's a convertible, that's how it works.

speaking of the convertible, while i only had occasion to take the top down for photos, (it is November), the top collapses quickly and effortlessly, and the looks greatly improve when the top is down.

while this is an exceptionally pretty car, it really didn't draw the attention you would expect it to, especially with the top up.  as a matter of fact, people really didn't notice it at all in the street like you would think they would.  it's a car-guys car i suppose, but honestly if i were going to actually buy something like this, i would really want it to turn heads.  it just didn't.  with the top up it really blended in with just about every other newer car on the road, i get far more attention driving my dad's Studebaker then i did all week driving the Benz.

i guess that's really the thing about luxury sports cars.  there are a lot of reasons to buy one, but most of those reasons are truly lost on the average person not in the car.  it's a car, no matter the attached status that you believe comes with the purchase, ultimately, it's just another way to get where you're going.  if you're buying it to show off, you just might be disappointed with the lack of reaction.

i truly did enjoy my time with the car though, MB does make a solid and exceptional product and, if you have the means, i highly recommend giving the C 300 a spin to see how it fits you.
