Final product post

(Late) October reward for Patreons TibsCove and Ether!

"Two bountyhunters are hanging over there at the bar... Oh, some thugs are coming over, maybe they have a dispute with them? Uh oh, they don't seem to be happy to see each other... Shit, they're drawing their weapons..."

Feat. their OCs Leona Kai the Samurott and Blu the Dragonite submerged in the dark but amazing world of Cyberpunk 2077 (or atleast going with the theme lol)

  • 1- Early sketch: The earliest sketch was done rather fast, without much care for details and more focus on the overall posing
  • 2- Position test: Then I started brainstorming ways to make the piece look more cohesive, one of those ideas was to put the characters closer to each other/behind, for this I separated the sketches into their own separate layers so I could work on each character individually
  • 3- Early sketch 2: On a later revision we decided to switch Blu to face backwards.
  • 4- Final sketch: Then, after many tweaks to the base sketches, I decided to draw the clothing on separate layers and properly position the characters.
  • 5- Lineart: With everything done I finally start the lineart process, much more time consuming than usual because of all the little details and clothing designs.
  • 6- Flat colors: With the lines in, I move on to the color fills with the basic palette for each character and the outfit color choices for each.
  • 7- Color patterns: Then on a separate layer I add further color patterns to make everything pop out.
  • 8- Provisional drawings: Some of the patterns needed to be built separately in another layer, the sword here was used in the early stages of lineart before being changed to the final version.
  • 9- Gradients: Next up are the darker and lighter gradient colors + colored lineart
  • 10- Shading: Then comes the shadows and highlights, all colored and set up.
  • 11- Lighting effects: Last but not least comes the lighting effects. Deeper shadows, glowing highlights, extra colors for lineart and color correction!
