Illustration #45 (Patreon)

Here's the cleaner version:
I took a week off this month to mess around with hobby projects. Some 3D modeling stuff to be specific. It's fun to experiment with different things like that sometimes to keep myself from burning out on doing just one thing. And I've been meaning to try to incorporate 3D modeling into my workflow too to help block in scenes and more easily do architecture and play around with lighting, etc. I tried it a bit for this illustration too, but it didn't entirely work out like I wanted it to, so I fell back on a more typical workflow. I definitely want to make more attempts at it though!
Here's a quick render I did of the scene I attempted to build in 3D for this illustration:
I built the scene using SketchUp and imported it into Unity to render it there using the Octane Render plugin. There are more convenient ways of doing that, but that set of programs is free to use, so it worked out well for me in that sense.
Another advantage of building scenes in 3D like this is how you can reuse the scene for multiple illustrations. I hope to be able to model Maya's home in 3D eventually so I can make series of illustrations there and keep the interior consistent throughout all the illustrations.
Anyway.. I hope you guys enjoy what you see. :) Reward packs will be sent out in about a week from now as usual!
