Thanks for all the nice birthday wishes last week! I really appreciate all of you, you're great. 😄

And hey, I did a bunch of art this month, here it is! I hope you like it!

I can only imagine demon girls have all sorts of unusual toys, so I wanted to paint her vigorously trying one out. She's having a good time! I bet he is too. 👀

Here are the download links for the rewards for illustration #119 so you can check out the process if you want:

And I did some videos for the doodles this time around, so here's the link for those as well as some PSD files:

This month I ended up wanting to do some deliberate and focused attempts at introducing more color variety in my paint strokes, particularly doing it all the way from the earliest stages of the process. So I wanted to do several character focused pieces instead of one big illustration with a full environment. That way I got to do that early stage a few times instead of just one. The character focused pieces worked well for that.

I'm really happy with the progress I made this month trying to build that habit of using color variety in my paint strokes. When I don't do that I often spend so much time trying to polish surfaces to have smooth color gradients, and I go through extra steps to make surfaces look interesting, but I feel like the strokes with more color variety help make that process a lot easier and helps get to those visually interesting results without those extra steps. I'm really enjoying it, so I'll keep at it!

I'll probably have more thoughts to share about that once I have some more practice with it. 👍

I am kind of itching to paint some characters in environments again now, so I'll try to get some of those done next. :)

Thanks for your support, everyone!

I LOVE the hair on the first pic! <3

What an incredible update! 👏 I love that you still made such an incredible illustration while also giving us so many goodies to look at too! I've got to say seeing you do illustrations of non-fantasy characters feels extra special 😂

New Calm! Today is a good day~

I'm gonna disagree on the redhead study in that the anatomy is not goofy at all. You're a master and whatever distortion is applied is very much just stylization coming from a place of knowledge. You're too damn good! I love your work so much!

I fucking love demon girls, i love the horns on this one so nice, and the purple skin with red hair looks quite good, really good combination of colours.

fantastic content as always

Yoo the Chun Li made me feel some kinda things 😍 Amazing work on all of them

Goodness, there really is a lot this month! 😻 All of the Doodles and the series of sketches look great and I'll try to be brief here. In the collection of pose sketches, I must say, I do love the one to the bottom right, of the rear-view of the character sitting down on a... phallic object 😹 The pose looks great, I like the low angle, the curves of her back, bum and legs, the overlapping shapes of her cheeks and those little love hearts near her face, all-in-all, a very sexy sketch! In the bottom left, there's the girl laying face down with her breasts squishing and bum perked up, as well as the girl beneath her who's squishing her breasts together. Closer to the middle, also love the girl giving a boob-job with the way her breasts squish and the teasing of her bum. Okay... need to stop before I end up talking about all of them 😹 Suffice to say, lots of great stuff there! I absolutely adore Doodle 2 and I like that she is one of those sketches that has been taken further. I like the pink background, the textures of it and how those colours are affecting her skin, with her arms in particular looking very nice with the pink tones running along their top planes. The paler pink-white rim-lighting along her bum is terrific too, with all of this lighting doing a great job of further defining her. Weirdly enough, now that I'm looking at them more... I think her fore-arms and hands feature my favourite use of the pink lighting, since it's contrasting more strongly with the darker tones of the skin there. Naturally, her pose is super sexy and I love the love-hearts above her head and her expression as she turns to face us in this... more exposed position 😻 The textures of her skin are gorgeous and I really like the shine spots on her bum and thighs, as well as the strong, red blushing on her face, with her lips looking very luscious too. Oh and the pink lighting looks so very striking on her hair, accentuates it beautifully! Similarly, her thigh-highs look terrific with the pink lighting. Both her hair and thigh-highs also benefit from some subtle blue tones mixed in too and I really like the textures of both her hair and the clothing material. Honestly, this "Doodle 2", could have been the main painting and I would have been very happy and I could just keep talking on and on about this one! 😹😻 I simply can't go talking fully about the other doodles, but I will quickly say, in list format... Doodle 3 - The hair-style and colour makes me think of the PS3 game, Heavenly Sword and that makes me happy - The stylised skin textures look fantastic, particularly on her arm where I really enjoy the interlocking shapes - I also enjoy the thick rim-lighting along her neck and chest - I don't know much about anatomy, but I really enjoy the textured, thicker definition of her features and how they all interlock Doodle 4 - The pushed up breasts look super sexy and I love the rich, luscious colours and textures of her lips - The thick blue and beige rim-lights in the hair are fantastic. Overall the hair is so well textured, defined and vibrant. - I really like the textures of her skin, with these little "hatching lines" that add to the shading, most notably where her shoulder locks into the upper arm and where the breasts join to the chest. - And the lighting on her skin really accentuates her shapes so well, like her fore-arms and hands with those strong contrasts between light and dark. - Also... her stomach is super hot 🥰 Doodle 5 - The arm has those strong textures, thick definition and interlocking shapes that I really like. As well as strong contrasts in lighting, making the muscles really pop. - The golden trim on her outfit looks fantastic, so textured and shining. - The colours mixed into the hair make it so vibrant. - I love the textures of the blue clothing, especially on her breasts where brush strokes are still visible, with some subtle purples mixed in. Okay... need to get to the main painting... and must try my hardest to be faster... 😅 Firstly, I always appreciate a purple woman, particularly of the demon variety 😻😻😻💜💜💜 I love her pose, the way she straddles her lucky friend looks so sexy and sensual, particularly with how her open thighs are obscured. The shapes of her breasts are gorgeous too, I love the sense of weight to them as they hang down, with the nipples pointing low on them too. Her hair is terrific with such long, sweeping and flowing movements to it as it curves down behind her. I also like the foreshortening on her legs, particularly her right leg with her thigh coming forward and calf receding backwards. She also has this really nice C-curve to her as she leans to one side, with the curving motion moving through her leaning torso and continuing down her right thigh. And I like the asymmetry in her arms and how she's using one of them to balance herself. And with this painting, I can definitely see how you're experimenting with colours, this lady just looks so incredibly vibrant! The pinks mixed into her striking red hair look gorgeous, as do the blues and pinks blended throughout all of her skin. Like seeing pink on her foot, with blue blended into the calf, or pink and blue running side-by-side through her thighs, with both colours also present in her chest and breasts. All of this and the many more examples I'm not listing just come together and make her look so colourful and striking! 💜❤️💙 I also really like the wet, shining texture to her skin, with her breasts and thighs really benefitting from this. The shapes of her belly/waist look so good too and I especially like the creases in the skin where her thighs push against and overlap her pelvis. And my goodness, the teased centre of her thighs looks so absurdly sexy, especially with the strings of lube... slime? Well, strings of something that connect her to her friend or the string connecting her pelvis to her thigh. This comment is getting way too long.... Suffice to say, all of her body and skin tones look sensational and I just adore the colours, her anatomy and the shining textures. And of course, the goop version just adds to the definition of her body as it all drapes over her. And I haven't mentioned her face but her expression is wonderfully fun too. I always enjoy these big smiles, especially with the luscious lips and rosy, blushing cheeks. Oh and a quick detail I just noticed that I enjoy, how strings of hair fall between her horns. Also the horns look really nice too with their vibrant colours and white rim-lights. Okay, I have to stop now, brilliant work on this painting and your doodles! I'd say that your experimenting with colours has gone exceptionally well too and I look forward to seeing even more of it! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 (Have to admit... I'm somewhat tempted to make Doodle 2 my PC wallpaper 😹)

Everything looks so juicy. Taking notes! 💦💦

yoooooooo calm this illustration is a great one! Love the sketch page too. Is that some pussy eating I spy in there too?? 👀👀

Townes

What an absolutely freaking delightful batch of art. When you're doing the big page of lineart sketches, what are you going for? Is it 100% imaginative, are you trying to find a certain pose or are you just playing? Happy belated bro

Griffin Barrows

Fleshjack from Cthulu looks like it does a good job 🤤

calm

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! Lol, I guess I do paint mostly fantasy themed stuff, but other stuff can be fun too, for sure! Variety is nice. :)

calm

Thanks! I wouldn't mind painting her again sometime. 😄

calm

Thank you, Ciarán, I'm glad you like these! You very often point out positives about not just the things I'm happy with, but also the things I've been a bit on the fence about, so reading your comments is always reassuring and a nice confidence boost, lol. I really appreciate that. 😄

calm

Thank you, Raxa! I did sneak some of that in there lol. I should draw it more often!

calm

I'm glad you like paintings, Townes! When I did those small sketches I was pretty much only thinking about poses, trying to come up with a whole bunch that I can pull from later if I feel inspired. And some of the sketches are just me playing around too, specifically the objects I drew to fill in the spaces between the pose sketches. And yeah, it is 100% imaginative at that point in the process for me. I like to wait until a bit later in the process before I use references. 👍

Ciarán M

Ah, well I'm very glad to provide that boost! And assure you on things you might not have been 100% on 😸

Matty Thunders

I love these big sketch dumps! Also your sketches look like fully complete illustrations🤣

Incredible work, Calm. I have a question regarding the grayscale one you didn't finished as a reminder to yourself. Are you not able to solve the local color and value differences in the hard light layer? I know hard light is quite is flexible and versatile blending mode. What specific challenges or difficulties do you see in doing it this way?

calm

Thank you! And sorry about the delayed reply. :) I do sometimes use hard light layers like that and I think it can give good results. It's particularly good for fixing an image that is missing that color variety. But I guess I just feel like it's an extra step that attempts to emulate a result that can be achieved quicker and with a more natural look when it's instead a core part of the brush technique from the start, if that makes sense.

Kerrie

I adore your art! You must be an incredible lover! I'm sorry, I'm that one girl who always says something she's not supposed to! ;)

calm

Lmao, thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying the paintings 😄
