ONE PIECE: THE CHILD OF GOD - CHAPTER 4 (Patreon)

The following days, all I did was read the books my current hosts had so graciously provided me upon my request while keeping baby Ace around me so that he wouldn’t cry.

The reason why I was reading was that I wanted to gather as much information about the world I was currently in as possible, and compared that to what I knew from the anime and manga, and only when I had the full picture of what to expect, plan how to move ahead.

Of course this task was proving to be quite difficult, with the books Dadan and her crew had provided me being less than up to date so to speak.

But I was managing with what I had.

“Abuuu waaaaa!” Baby Ace babbled, throwing his tiny arms into the air with a giggle.

“Very good point Ace,” I chuckled, closing the book I was reading.

As I did so, Dadan burst into the room, startling the crap out of baby Ace with her hideously unsightly vile repulsively grotesque face, “Brats!”

So like a cat, Ace jumped comically high into the air only to be catched by me. Once in my arms, Ace babbled something before hiding his face on my chest, “Dadan, knock first,” I sighed.

“I’m not UGLY!” Dadan shouted seeing Ace hide, with a vein popping on her head.

“No, you are not,” For a gorilla.

“I know that face!” Dadan hissed, but I simply chuckled.

“So, what do you want?” I asked, tilting my head.

“Well, I was about to make breakfast and wanted to see if you wanted some,” Dadan sighed.

I nodded, I was indeed hungry.

After eating my breakfast I decided to exercise a bit, and walk around the forest surrounding Dadan’s house, with Ace on my back happily babbling, probably babbling about becoming a pirate or something, who knew what baby Ace thought.

As I walked around the thick forest, I started to contemplate about the options I had in this world, thinking what was I to do now? Considering options in this world were somewhat limited.

Become a pirate perhaps? No… that was laughable, I mean I wasn’t particularly good at fighting, I wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t anime good either, I was just a simple guy that threw a few punches in highschool.

A marine? Yeah, no… I would rather let Dadan kiss me.

Being a marine meant being the bitch of the world government, and good or not at fighting, I was no one’s bitch.

Though, regardless of my fighting skills and such, both options didn’t particularly entice me.

Though if I had to pick one of the two main roles in this world, a pirate was the best option, considering the freedom they have.

As I pondered over that thought with an inward chuckle, a bear appeared in front of me from behind a bush, staring at us menacingly before he let out an angry roar.

I looked at the bear standing in two paws and blinked in mild confusion, noticing I wasn’t scared, not even a little bit.

The bear was big, bigger than anything I have ever seen in person, heck, looking at it with a detailed look, the bear was at least twice as big as a normal bear from where I came from, and yet, I felt nothing but pure apathy.

Roaring the bear brought his claw towards me with a swing, and what happened next left me speechless so to speak.

As the bear swung his left claw to attack me, I acted on instinct and punched the bear on his stomach, seeing that was the only thing I could reach.

I didn’t even think about what I was doing, I just did it.

Of course, after my fist made contact with the bear’s belly, I momentarily came to my senses and realized what I had done, and thought the only thing I had probably achieved was royally pissing the bear off even more.

So imagine my surprise when I see the bear blur out of sight crashing into a hill causing a small crater.

“What kind of one punch bullshittery was that,” I muttered, looking at my fist in mild shock.

“Hahahahaha!” I heard someone behind me, laughing.

Turning around, I found a tall, tanned, broad-chested, muscular old man looking at me with a wide smile. The old man in question had a thick beard and a scar over his left eye, and was wearing a marine uniform.

There was no denying it, that old man was Garp.

“Good punch brat!” Garp guffawed.

I looked at him, and wondered what he was doing here, the anime made it seem he didn’t visit Ace all that often.

“Hi,” I waved my hand at him.

“Come,” Garp ordered, grabbing me by the waist.

Frowning in indignation, as he carried me like a sack of potatoes, I forced his arm to open, effectively breaking free from his grasp and blasted towards Dadan’s house, and I mean blasted because once again I found yet again another surprise, I was fast as fuck.

I mean I covered the distance from where I was to Dadan’s house in less than a few seconds.

Arriving at Dadan’s house, I got up to my room ignoring the looks of fear and confusion in Dadan and her crew after seeing my speed, and put baby Ace on my bed, which immediately made Ace fall asleep like it was magic.

“How dare you run from my grasp of love!” Garp shouted, kicking Dadan’s door open.

“G-Garp-san!!!” Dadan shouted in fear and shock.

Sighing, I walked out of the room, to find Garp on the first floor, standing over the broken door he had kicked.

“Brat!” Garp exclaimed, pointing at me, “You don’t run from my grasp of love!”

Grasp of love? Wasn’t that a thing he did with Luffy and Ace because they were his family in a way.

“I don’t know you, so stranger danger,” I replied with a calm expression.

“I’m Garp! The hero of the Marines!” Gale announced proudly.

“So a marine tried to kidnap a pair of defenseless children,” I sighed, looking down with a small grin, “How low this world is falling,”

“Meh… It’s not kidnapping if there aren’t any witnesses, and you know the judge,” Garp shrugged, and I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect that reply.

“Ok… bye,” With no reply for that answer, I waved at him, walking towards my room.

“Hey brat! Where do you think you’re going! Become a marine!” So that’s where Luffy got his Luffiness, it’s a genetic thing, I wonder if Dragon it’s like that with the revolutionary army.

I snorted at the thought.
