We stared at the mind-reading bloodsucker in shock, not sure what to do or how to proceed; they were our prey, they always have been, but something felt odd about them, like as if we were missing something, and that made us feel weird, unsure… uncertain.

“The police is coming,” The mind reader muttered under his shallow breath, his eyes locked into ours, “I don’t know what you are, and in the end, it doesn’t really matter, but if it helps you with something, I apologize for what my kind did to you,”

Images of our Alice flashed across our head, all the little moments we shared with her. Was he being honest? We wondered, and we didn’t like it, we didn’t like it at all, hating them was easier than thinking they could be good or feel remorse; it was better for us to hate them; it made our lives less complicated, hating them was always better than the alternative, admitting we failed to protect her.

“It is,” The Mind reader nodded, “Hating is always easier… I know how you feel,” he was reading our mind again! “I can’t help it,” the mind reader looked down with an expression of guilt, “My name is Edward, by the way,”

Edward… Carlisle… those names sounded familiar but from where? “The police are close,” The female amongst them said.

“We will be keeping an eye on you…” We warned before leaving, we didn’t want the police after us, that was never good, but a question bothered us… why were we letting our prey escape? We weren’t scared, we weren’t outmatched, we knew we could take them… so why?

“Thanks,” Edward muttered before running with his coven out of the scene too.

“Their names… they sounded familiar,” We hissed from the shadows as we saw the police arrive at the crime scene, “Perhaps we knew them?”

[10 Years later - Venom POV - 1943]

Not much had changed since the day we encountered that weird coven that had escaped our grasp for reasons we still didn’t completely understand. Nonetheless regardless of what had happened, we continued with our endless hunt of vampires, as the doubt of what was different with that weird coven we allowed to escape created roots of doubt within us. Eventually, those roots of doubt pushed us to investigate what exactly was different with them, and soon enough, after hunting a few dozen vampires we found information about the golden-eyed coven we had encountered a decade ago. According to our prey, the vampires we had faced were known as the Olympic Coven or the vegetarian coven.

Best known for their personal vow to not consume human blood, which explained the color of their eyes, “Interesting,” We hissed, holding our prey close to us.

“Can I go now?” The vampire asked, and we chuckled.

“No,” for hours the screams of the immortal beast filled the vicinity, showing to all the creatures in creation, there is no such thing as immortality, not with us around.

[Jack POV]

What the vampires we had been hunting had said, it stuck with me, vegetarian vampires, that term it felt oddly familiar, but from where? Where had I heard about that, I don’t recall reading anything about vampires in this life, so it had to be from my last.

--Maybe a piece of media?-- Venom offered, and for a moment I considered that, if Venom was in my world a piece of entertainment, the chances of this world also being part of the media I consumed as a teenager are high, but if that was the case…. I was royally fucked, I wasn’t one to read or watch anything about vampires, never liked them very much, well I suppose that wasn’t entirely true, I did like Alucard on Hellsing, but besides other vampires disgusted me, because they were media specifically created to target horny teenager girls for easy cash.

Like that movie, girls were all wet about during my high school years, I don’t remember the name though, just that one of my friends made me watch a marathon with her about a shirtless werewolf and a very anorexic looking vampire, don’t remember the plot or the names though, so considering all possibilities there was a big chance I was in that world, have yet to find a shirtless werewolf to confirm this, but it was a possibility. The point was, I didn’t remember much of my human life before all of this, with Venom everything was vivid, every second of my life, but before him, well… it’s like trying to see through a deep haze, nothing really solid, just images and sounds.

--Maybe we can hunt a vampire to help us with this, one of them ought to have a power that can help us with this,-- Venom hissed with excitement, who would’ve thought symbiotes liked mysteries that much.

“Well, we don’t lose anything by trying,” I shrugged, we were hunting them anyways, “Let’s do it,” I chuckled with conviction, a side quest to our quest to exterminate the vampires from the face of the earth.

[Edward Cullen POV]

To this day the mind of the man we had encountered a decade ago… haunted me, his mind was so complex yet easy to understand it was like a puzzle with missing pieces, two voices in one… it was weird in a very interesting way, not like people suffering from DID like Carlisle assumed he did, his case was vexing to a pathological degree, but what shocked me the most was his pain, how he felt truly alone and lost, and to avoid that feeling ever consuming feeling he had put himself on a mission to exterminate our kind, and in all honesty, I was rooting for him, wishing him the best of luck with his mission, our kind was everything he said and thought and even more, the only one of us worthy of salvation was Carlisle, the rest… including me were nothing but heartless monsters when the hunger hit us, demons deserving of the eternal suffering that awaited us after death.

“He has that face again,” Emmett, my newest brother called out, he was the baby of the family, after Carlisle turned him into one of us in 1935 two years after meeting Venom, “The I feel blue face!”
