Resident Evil - chapter 2 (Patreon)

After searching quite thoroughly for anything useful in the abandoned house, I decided it was time to move from the place as to avoid being swarmed by zombies, which always happened to these type of houses in every zombie setting, so with that in mind I head out with the three items I found inside the house, a flashlight, a knife and the gun, with no real goal besides surviving, walking practically aimlessly through the forest with my flashlight illuminating my way, wondering how would I survive this, unfortunately my train of thought was interrupted abruptly.
“Fuck,” I blinked, surprised to see a metal wall beneath the flashlight's beam, barely a few meters away from me.
[- Ecliptic Express -
State: Damaged]
"Of course, I find the fucking train, what else Wesker?" I breathed, frowning slightly at the sight of the train. It seemed like my luck was drawing me into the canon no matter what.
If I recalled correctly the train in front of me belongs to Umbrella, the pharmaceutical corporation that fucked this world for no other reason besides the fact the could, not entirely sure, this game was an old memory for me, but even so I remember that Umbrella had a private line that ran from Latham to Raccoon City.
I couldn’t help but inwardly sigh, If only this was one of the newer games I would be able to know what to expect, my memories for this game were… not exactly accurate or fresh, I don’t remember much of the plot or how it unfolds for this one, besides critical points, like Billy meeting Rebecca and Wesker still being human and not all Matrix, “Billy must be here, if not he already meet Rebecca,”
As I saw it, I had two options, going the other way… or getting in and facing things no man should face.
As I thought over my options the sound of the grass being stepped on behind me, made me turn with my gun ready to shoot.
[Rebecca Chambers]
“Drop your weapon,” Rebecca ordered, sounding somewhat hesitant.
“Look, I just woke up in this shitty forest after work, and took a few wrong turns, all I want to do is go home,” Understatement of the century.
“Do you have a license for that?” Rebecca asked, pointing to my weapon with her weapon, and I nodded.
“I am a Police officer,” I lied.

[Lie Successful]
“Oh, I apologize officer,” Rebecca sheepishly lowered her weapon, all while I couldn’t believe that lie worked.
“It’s alright,” I smiled, still wondering how such a bad lie worked, “So if I have to guess you are here for the train right?”
Rebecca nodded, “I am now,” after the tensions of aiming at each died down, I had a chance to see she had short brown hair with fringes in each side and brown eyes. As for her clothes, they consisted of a white bulletproof vest with an olive green undershirt, olive green cargo capris with a brown belt around her waist and a side belt, and brown combat boots. She was also wearing a pink choker on her neck and brown fingerless gloves.
“I’ll leave that up to you then,” I nodded, I was here to survive not to chat with the main characters.
“Actually, I need your help officer,” Rebecca stopped me with a pleading look, “If Billy the prisoner this train was transporting escaped, I will need backup to apprehend him in case things go wrong, and I know this is out of your jurisdiction but… is for the greater good,”
I was about to say no, but then… I rationalized I had no idea how to navigate this place beyond a few locations I had on my mind, and would most likely get killed by Zombies if I took a wrong turn, but if I followed Rebecca, I had a big chance of surviving, she managed to survive this on the games alongside Billy.
What that hell, “Sure,” I nodded with a smile.

As we walked inside the train, something felt wrong, beyond the fact of damnation creeping behind us at every corner.
“Bad day to not have a bulletproof vest,” I muttered to myself, keeping the cop facade.
“Don’t worry I’ll cover you,” Rebecca whispered, god this girl was too trusting, good for me… but bad for her, very bad.
Our advance came to a halt when in the middle of the train cabin, we found what Umbrella’s new toy had done, blood was everywhere, body parts mutilated… it was like straight out of a horror movie, the irony is strong on that one.
“This… was a massacre,” Rebecca muttered.
“It was,” I gulped, “Not much left, of anyone…”
“Do you think Lieutenant Billy did this?” Rebecca asked and I shook my head.
“The pattern of the blood shows… this was an animal, or something animalistic,” I was lying about the pattern of the blood, I just remembered this setting very well.
We continued to the next cabin, where we could see five people seated, and I immediately cursed under my breath at the titles hovering above them.
[Zombie] , [Zombie] , [Zombie] , [Zombie] , [Zombie]
All of them Zombies just fucking great, their faces all ravaged by unknown claws, probably Cerberus dogs, if I recall correctly, their bodies drenched in dark wetness. A few of them were slumped in seats, showing they'd have been brutally murdered where they'd been sitting. The smell of death was a palpable thing, like copper and feces, like rotting fruit on a hot day.
“Get ready girl,” I whispered to her.
Before Rebecca had a chance to ask why, the corpses had risen from their seats, and were moving toward us. Their misshapen head turning to us, cruelly exposing the mauled flesh of their throats and faces, the smell was enough to make me gag, but what unsettled me the most was their moaning that grew deeper and deeper, more yearning as they stretched their arms at us in a desperate attempt of reaching us.
“On my next life, I will only play Hello Kitty games,” I muttered, aiming at the monster like I had done a million times in virtual reality games, shooting the first one in the head, taking it down with one shot, if only this handgun was as strong in the games, “I know is scary but you have to shoot girl or we will end like them,”
[x1 Zombie Killed]
Rebecca was beyond scared, but nodded nonetheless, holding her weapon high, helping me take care of the zombies “I’m sorry, I thought they were people… sick people,” oh yeah, I forgot she struggled the first time she encountered a zombie with that dilemma.
With Rebecca with her head on the game, we decimated the zombies, one by one.

X5 Zombies Killed!]
[You have level up!]
“That was… a unique experience,” Killing zombies in real life, did not feel like killing zombies on video games, the sensation was downright awful, almost like killing a person, not that I would know.
“Yeah,” Rebecca muttered, “What happened to them?”
“Well… I am no scientist, but… I reckon they suffered from a deadly virus that took control of them?” I answered.
*Bang!*
I turned around to see a man aiming at what seemed to be a now dead zombie we had failed to notice creeping his way from behind to us.
[Billy Coen]
“You two should not lower your guard… with these things around, everything is your enemy,” That voice, to think Billy and his voice actor would sound the same.
