Reed and I finally shot our first full set in 35mm while we were on Oahu! As soon as I hit my next goal we will be releasing this set to $20+ tiers! Yesterday over margaritas Reed and I spoke about what tier to release this reward to and mainly spoke about the why. We decided on my $20+ tier for a few reasons. First, I did not want to over crowd one tier with too many rewards. I was thinking of releasing these to $15+ patrons but then quickly realized that ‘The Intimate Access’ already has several perks that make the tier probably one of the best I have to offer. I also wanted to leave ‘The Library Pass’ as is simply because I think that The Instax Library is an amazing reward in itself. We determined the only way to go is up and the $20+ tier – ‘The Messenger’ was the way to go. Secondly, the cost. Between buying the film and paying to get that film developed has a decently high cost. I dropped off four tolls to get developed at Samy’s Camera on Fairfax Ave and the total came out to about $120! I will be choosing to have the film developed and the photos scanned by Samy’s onto a disk in high resolution .tiff files. This will allow me to share them with you, my patrons in the highest quality that I provide across all of my tiers from digital sets to 600DPI Instax scans. Having these files in high resolution .tiff files will also give me the ability to color correct and retouch as I see fit. Lastly, there has been a lot of thought, effort and time put into my 35mm sets so I think that the $20+ tier just screams to have this reward added to it.

I am extremely excited to hit my next goal, release this first 35mm set to you guys and see where this camera and ‘series’ goes. I urge you to pledge up and gain access because you do not want to miss this reward. I think it may be one of my new favorites next to The Instax Library. I also wanted to share with you the original post that I made about my Nikon F5 purchase in case you missed it or wanted a refresher.

"New toys always mean more fun, especially when it is yet another camera to add to mine and Reed's collection. We have more film cameras than we do digital, for good reason of course. Well, this is my first full manual 35mm camera and what a first to have.

I have had a Kodak Motormatic 35 for about two and a half years now. The Kodak has a manual shutter speed with an automatic aperture, but it was the first camera to have auto frame advance and auto rewind. I also have Nikon EM which has manual aperture but automatic shutter speed. With both of my film cameras having one detrimental setting as automatic it was quite frustrating to me that I could not control every aspect of the photograph that I was taking. That officially has changed!

The Nikon F5 is a full manual, professional 35mm film SLR. Nikon discontinued the production of the F5 back in 2004, due to the release of the new F6. With a price tag of $2,100; the F6 was simply out of my price range. However the F5 fit perfectly into my budget for a professional 35mm SLR!

What this means for you:

With this new camera, comes a great new goal that benefits you; my patrons. The Nikon F5 goal. When my monthly total reaches the cost of this camera, I will release the first set shot with the Nikon F5! It will of course be featuring Reed as the model for the set, since we test all of our new cameras together. However, the fun will be once I hit this goal I will post a patron polls for you guys to decide the location, outfit, mood and feel of the 35mm sets! What do you think?! I have been wanting to change my goal for some time now, and this is the perfect opportunity.

I wanted to incorporate you guys more into this new goal so you have a say in some content that I am releasing! I am so excited to begin using this new camera and cannot wait to see the outcomes."
