Bito's Box Bash - Update 8/10/2021 (Patreon)
Content
I've been chugging away at creating my game Bito's Box Bash, pushing to get a build up. So let me go over some new additions and what still needs to be done before I can share another build.
New major additions:
NPCs now have a memory!
One of the biggest pillars that needed to be added, I worked out a system to store info on NPCs. So now NPCs can progress the story instead of just being 1 conversation every time.
New level!
There is a new intro sector that acts as a tutorial for how to control Bito. It's an obstacle course that will show off most of Bito's main moves, and has a NPC convo that is an introduction to chance challenges.
What needs to be done before the next build upload:
- The signs in the first area need to have info on how to play, all of them are blank right now.
- The intro cutscene has 2 chunks that need at least some placeholder art.
- Tweak some of the existing levels, a lot of them were thrown together to test new elements and are not laid out the best.
A lot of the things left to do are more content-oriented then coding things to work so they should be quicker to get done!
And some other stuff that are high on the list but not crucial.
- A Gallery for art you see during conversations, unlocked as you see it during gameplay.
- Option menu additions. Mostly controller mapping and content settings.
- Bug Fixes! I don't have any real game breaking bugs, but I have a long list of errors I have to investigate and iron out.
I've been having a lot of fun making the game, though I've been dying to get a build complete enough to get it back in peoples hands to test. It's really shaping up well and evolving from a tech demo to an actual thing you can play!
After the next Patreon release I have a list of things I need to get done to do more serious play testing, to make sure all of the core gameplay mechanics work, but so far I am really proud of what it's becoming.
