Shit...

Just to give you folks a fair heads-up and not shove this at the bottom of a changelog of the recent 0.10.7 release, but I tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday morning.

The story of how I got it makes me so mad for how much of a wrench this has thrown into my personal and health plans that I don't fully want to get into it the details, but the tl;dr is that my careless visiting grandma deliberately avoiding testing herself so that she could go to a housewarming meetup for my sister and only bothered telling us she had symptoms and a positive test result after she had left the state.

I'm double-vaccinated with Pfizer and one booster shot and I am currently experiencing these symptoms:

  • A sharply reduced sense of smell and taste
  • A slight headache
  • Slight fever
  • Exhaustion
  • Soreness and aching
  • Moderate coughing
  • A "sunken" feeling in my eye sockets (likely sinus congestion)

These symptoms are unexpectedly mild and only around the level of a moderate cold, minus the reduced sense of smell and taste which is really unique and hard to explain (the closest I can compare it to is being in a pressurized airplane cabin and trying to eat food that's gone stale).

Nevertheless, I am taking my health with COVID-19 very, very seriously and am going to force myself to spend little to no time on the upcoming update until I feel "good enough" to spend time working on the coming 0.10.8 update.

I was trying to power through being sick this morning and coordinate stuff in DMs TiltSHIFT involving the last of the Keisuke Day 1 placeholder replacement scenes from him, but my exhaustion and general fogginess to my thoughts led to me getting confused over what we were talking about a few times and made me realized that I'm performing well under my mental peak right now and shouldn't force myself to work when I'm going to produce subpar results that'll have to be fixed later.

Yeah, don't push yourself. Do what you can, and the rest will follow.
