As an ardent fan of Yokohama Kaidashi Kiko and a creator of a doujin literature (below), I have always been amused that the story’s reference to Yokohama is actually minimal. Literally translated into “Yokohama Shopping Log,” yes the protagonist Alpha does take her scooter to that city to buy beans for her coffee shop, but that is only the first episode and she never goes back there for a refill. She and her neighbors actually live in today’s Miura peninsula down south, which is much more rural (shores, tea leaf gardens, narrow roads and fishing villages). The reason why the series was not named after Alpha’s actual residence is anybody’s guess.:-)

Maybe it was not named that because the editor/publisher thought that a more well know town name would be more appropriate? Anyway loved your doujin and I have the official version in the new English manga omnibus. But have not had enough free time and energy to read it yet

Glad to hear. Also there are some hidden Easter eggs in our doujin manga that are derived from the original, so that might add to the fun once you read the original :-)

Been almost two decades since I visited Yokohama. I do miss Japan sometimes.

I wish. Left Japan in 2007 when I finished my Navy service. Now I'd need to get a passport since my military id expired then XD

Also the reason why the series title is as such is likely bc the first ep was a standalone story, and it had traction with readers and became a series. There is some discontinuity with the first ep and the continuing episodes, like Alpha explained that an apocalyptic event occurred only a few years ago reducing Yokohama to a small town, but in later episodes the doomsday is more gradual and ongoing

Oh yes one of the special, thing that I have read about this stories is how it handle it doomsday. As despite how the population is getting smaller and smaller people still live comfortable lives in more rural areas
