Oh poor Saki having spent so many years to try and find her father. When she was looking at the wrong places

Titan1017

Now that I think about it, did the island council (or whoever decided that Nate killed their priestess) let Saki keep the dog tags KNOWING it would spur her to explore underwater sooner or later? That’s actually pretty ingenious, if that’s where your trying to get a person to go. That said, being a Shrine Maiden, and the underwater ability for it, isn’t genetic, so what was their reason for doing something that could easily kill her if mishandled? I would think you would want her to be as equipped as possible, so why even let her try to dive with a one-piece or bikini? That all being said, I still enjoy the post. You can tell Saki is struggling here, so it gives a sense of progression. Would still like to see this expanded on, of course!

I thought that being a (sea) Shrine Maiden. Was both something to do with genetic and hard work. Seeing how some people have better genes when it comes to freediving

“Islanders thought, it was the sacred blood and blessings from gods that enabled the Dive of the Priestess; actually it was hard work, talent, and a precarious balance of youth and experience.”- pulled directly from Sanctuary 2.

I have another question: There is no US military facilities at Miyako after 1973, most US military bases at Okinawa main island, that means Nate is not at Miyako in most of his time, There is not much time for their family to reunite, but why Saki has so deep impression of her father, and looks that her mother's death did not leave any impressions on her mind. Just like she had been hypnotized by someone.

Oh I remember that part, but I was also thinking about it biology speaking. As certain genes do make your spleen bigger. Which is the organ alongside the lungs that is the most important for breathing holding. Seeing how it stores oxygenated red blood cells there. One example of this is the people from the Bajau tribe which has 50% bigger spleen on avenge then the people from different tribes which live inland. So even if hard work play a huge factor I don’t think that you should rule out generic from the equation IMAO
