Miyako Island (Miyako-jima) is an island of Japan's subtropical Ryukyu archipelago, lying approximately 1,900 km (1,100 miles) southwest of Tokyo and 400 km (250 miles) east of Taipei. Gifted with some of the most renowned scenic beauties in East Asia, it is the model for Shion Island, where our story of Five Minute Summer takes place in DeviantArt.

Over the next few weeks, our heroines Chihaya Natori and Aya Isuzu (who conveniently happen to be on their winter vacation :-)) will escort us in their visits to some of the Island’s best to-go places.

The series (except for this teaser pic) will be available exclusively on Patreon. So if you are interested, please feel free to join our patronage program. $3 a month will unlock this series for your viewing. Your support will be much appreciated!

1 Path to an Adventure

Yonaha-Mai-bama Beach is a 7km (4 mile) stretch of natural sand, composed from graded coral reefs that surround the Island. Located on the Island’s southwest edge and facing Kurima Inlet, Miyako’s much smaller sibling, it has been continuously chosen the most beautiful beach in Japan by major travelogues and hosts the annual Miyako-jima Triathlon.

Chihaya wakes up on her first vacation day in Miyako and is told by Aya’s mom that her best friend is already off down to the beach. She quickly gets changed and decides to follow suit, surprised by the benign weather and temperature that she hardly expected back at her home in Tokyo. She should get to sunbathe on the warm sand, or even better, may even take a dip in the clear emerald waters she saw from the plane yesterday.
