Thanks for taking a look!

I wanted to assemble this swimsuit Masilo as soon as I received it, but I had a lot to do halfway through the year-end and New Year's holidays, so I wasn't able to make it.

I have a lot of things to do after the new year, but I was able to complete it in 3 days with some time to spare. It's so cute, anyone who buys it should built it together! It will be a soothing experience if you put it next to your desk.

I also made an ASMR-like video while I was working on it, but how was it...?

If you haven't seen it yet, I hope you do!

Well, when I conducted a survey on video content in the past, we found that the results were fine as before, but when I added narration and eliminated background music, the results on Youtube analytics changed more than I had expected.

The result was that it was not good enough to continue as before.

The following information may be a useful topic for those who are interested in doing videos in the future.

┃My video is so boring, I'll see what I can do to improve it!

I know this is a bit sudden, but my videos are frankly boring and flattering. I think so myself, so there is no doubt about it.

As a how-to video, it may have some value, but as an entertainment video, it may or may not score 30 points out of 100.

If you say, "No, it doesn't even have a score of 10," that's true.

People who want to know about techniques, etc., should already be watching Fantia or Patreon, so I would like to work on Youtube as entertainment.

In conclusion, it is very likely that we will be making videos of 10 minutes at most in the future. I may also change the composition quite a bit.

The last survey was not only to ask viewers' preferences, but also to investigate what kind of videos Youtube's algorithm likes to recommend and display. Thank you to those who voted.

┃Youtube analytics shows me that it's  boring videos

It is a fact that videos are boring, because that is what the data shows. It is not something to be pessimistic about, but rather how to improve from here should be considered.

In general, videos that are easily displayed in Youtube's recommendation feed (the screen full of thumbnails when you open Youtube) are probably recognized as videos with high Audience retention and ratings. I actually believe this, so in order to increase the Audience retention rate as much as possible, I have made some changes to my most recent videos.

I have added narration, changed the shooting position, and added dolly shots as well as fixed angles like B-roll....

Perhaps because of this, Audience retention have begun to improve somewhat from previous years.

This is the retention for the Asuna video I posted earlier.

The average time actually watched for a 30-minute video is a little over 3 minutes.

In fact, the videos we have seen so far have generally only this level of viewer retention.

In other words, most people watch for a bit and then leave. Because they spend almost 10 minutes sanding white parts.... I doubt anyone can look at this and think "wow, that's interesting"...?

Also, I don't want people to think "wow, garage kits are so annoying" because it is too long and the same work is repeated.

In contrast, Masilo's video is as follows.

This is how it looks in Thea's narrated commentary video.

In both cases, the average playback rate increased by about 10%. Of course, the actual data will not be known until the videos are viewed as much as Asuna's.

But it means that if we continue to show images of specific parts of a scene with little change for a long period of time, viewers' interest will only wane.

We knew this, but we knew we had to make a change, so we started working on it this year.

When a human voice is added, it can be played all the time as if it were radio, and it can be used as work background music since there is no need to keep looking at the screen.

This will easily improve the viewer retention rate. So, the key to long videos is how they can be used as background music for work. If you can't do that, then you can't use long videos as background music.

However, in my videos, it is difficult to put in audio for a long time along with the video, and the working sound is not very pleasant. So, I think it is time to stop making long work videos.

If I don't make a lot of changes in my long videos, viewers leave quickly. Or, in the case of my videos, most people leave after about 10 seconds.

The graph shows that most viewers skip the intermediate work portion from the first screen to the last review shot.

So you can see that for the viewer, it is not something they want to watch for a long time, such as a long work scene of a specific scene.

If you can't come up with a structure that grabs the viewer's attention in the first five seconds, you've lost.

┃The goal is to create videos that viewers will not leave

For a while long videos were preferred, but recently there seems to be a growing number of viewers who prefer short videos again. This can be seen by looking at the Youtube short monetization process.

The Youtube algorithm will naturally do so because it is easier to attract viewers by displaying recommendations for videos that are short and have scene changes and ups and downs.

In fact, my recent video views have clearly dropped, and I don't feel the same momentum as before when I look at the channels of clay modeling artists. It is obvious.

I have the impression that the number of video views for those who mainly review but also include narration-like talk is fairly stable.

If you watch videos on channels that have put a lot of effort into filming and editing, they are basically 10-minute videos with elaborate narration and camera work.

They are interesting and worth watching. How are my videos in comparison?

It's uselessly long, the camera work is crappy, and I don't talk about anything. I do so many bad things that it makes my back crawl.

Even if you make videos without narration, you should think more about camera work and video structure.

I realize how shallow it was to just focus on the review part....

No one is kind enough to go out of their way to point out that "your video is boring" (a source of trouble).

So you'll just have to look at the analytics results yourself and improve them.

It may take a little time for new filming methods and editing, but I hope to be able to focus on videos as entertainment that viewers will find somewhat interesting or entertaining in the future.

Hi Sukima san, I would like to add one more thing. Many people don't like the machine vibration sound. The sound of the machine sanding the figure could be quite annoying. But hand sanding sounds is comfortable (at least for me). For example, this video: https://youtu.be/FIXnwBy8Gf4 Perhaps, you could record the hand sanding just for the video and use the machine in the actual work.

I am a bit surprised about the analytics, because your work is very professional, some of the best I have seen on Youtube of this genre. Though I think it is just the nature of this niece genre of content. I totally enjoyed your narration content, maybe experimenting more with this could be worth it? Shorts are definitely popular because of peoples short attention span, so it may be worth making some of those to get more people interested.
