patreon Q&A, hmmmm, maybe, (Patreon)

hey all

was considering doing a stream or vid where i answer a bunch of questions from patreon specifically; it would be probably be good fore more in-depth questions that i don't usually have the time or energy to go into during regular streams, and i'd probably wind up uploading it somewhere as well

drop some questions in the replies here and i'll see about getting around to it! and be sure to read the replies before you ask your question so you don't ask any duplicates

just about any question that isn't some weird question about my social life is fine by me - i'm especially fond of weirdly specific questions that wind up having answers that are a bit longer than one might imagine, so feel free to get down to the nitty gritty re: production stuff, "lore", etc.

i likely won't answer all of them (i can decide not to for whatever reason i like) but i'll try to come up with a good response for as many as possible

since truxton's whole sort of genre and musical vibe presumably would not fit with Halley Labs more serious angle as of late, is it fair to say that he might receive a rework in terms of what he puts out if you ever put something out with him again? is plunderphonics even something you would want to return to, or do you feel that it has taken off via internet culture to a point where there's not much to be done in that genre that would be fresh enough to release under the Halley Labs label?

How much of your work do you think is attributed to the wrong alias? Example being funny bastard on the radio tower originally being by rotteen and is now considered an hhsu track.

I'm getting another computer soon with specs high enough to handle my normal workload with the lfo thing you told me to implement into my leads and synths. I do want to ask though, how do you master tracks? Do you export it first or do you edit it in the project itself?

How do you go about creating albums? Like, for me personally it's quite easy to produce a song but building an album of music with a vibe related to that song without being same-y and repetitive is really difficult. Is there a specific process or mind-set that makes album production easier?

Is hyi a driver programmed for a certain operating system? Are there any specifics on how their lore came to be? Does hyi like being "stuck" inside a (or multiple) computer systems or do they tend to get bored when there are no user inputs? Has someone given hyi root privileges so they are in full control when the computer is on? What happens when the PC with hyi gets shut down? :o Thanks alot, I love hyi :3

What do you use to edit vocals? I’m using ACiD and sometimes I want vocals to sound like they are under effects. It’s local library of plugins allows me to pitch shift it, add echo and or distort it. The most interesting for me is how did you make Pinkie Pie sound creepy in the GOT MY PONY SPAM FOR YOU?

This will be a bit different from the other questions. Do you feel generally happy of what you are doing in life? Where do you usually find happiness from? What are the things that make you keep going forward and keep you motivated in what you love to do? i'll try to answer this properly in the vid but: a lot. in that song, bitspeek. acid uses VSTs, so you can use any VST on a vocal track. i use whatever a vocal track calls for.

Could you go into more detail on Feel-Line Systems, The Hedgemaze, or The Underground Garden? Also how did the name Halley Labs come about?
