Yo! TurtleMe here!

I know I talked a lot about the bits and pieces of  what was happening with my novel, and if you didn't keep track with every announcement I wrote, everything is probably still a surprise for you.

So! I thought I'd save many of you the trouble and lay out a brief roadmap for you all followed by some questions for you that I'd very much appreciate if you took the time to answer xD

What I'm working on/Roadmap

1. TBATE volume 1-6 is currently getting professionally edited.

  • While I currently have a beta reader and editor constantly working and giving me feedback for the weekly chapter updates, I know that there are still kinks in my writing and overall flow that needs to be looked at in a macro sense. So, thanks to all of your support, I was able to hire a professional editor to go through all of my volumes, not once, but twice to make sure consistency and proper flow (as well as grammar and typos) are in check. This doesn't mean TBATE will suddenly become a NYtimes bestseller but I'd be a lot more confident in it afterwards!

 2. New cover/landscape artwork for volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.

  • I know many of you loved the artwork for volume 5, so I got in contact with the artist and we're now working on redoing all of the previous volumes for better consistency in artwork as well as giving the covers a more mature/fantasy feel to it. I still love the artwork I had made for all of the previous volumes (Volume 1 especially), but it did set off more of a teen/child fantasy feel to it for unfamiliar readers passing through Amazon. I'll have the artwork all available for you to download in the future so you have access to them but look forward to brand new artwork!

3. TBATE comic (expected release: early-mid July)

  • I'm sure almost everyone knows by now that TBATE is officially getting its own comic. I'm actually really proud of this fact because out of all the xianxia-style web serials that have been popping up by writers outside of China, TBATE seems to be heading in the direction of other adaptations. There may be other original authors of light novels that have made comic deals somewhere but I don't know any, so I'd like to think TBATE might even be the first! Anyway, I'm working with a team of artists--from storyboarding to draft to full lining and coloring--to bring you a great-quality comic that I hope distinguishes itself from others in the genre. I hope you're all looking forward to it!
  • things to know: while TBATE comic will have several episodes available for free, it will be pay-to-read. Each chapter will be around $0.20 USD to purchase through tapas.io (their mobile site is awesome so you can read it on the go).

4. Printed books

  • This does not have a set date and I'm still very careful diving into this field. However, I do want to have a printed version of my novel and I've always meant to do so after getting my novel professionally edited. So, after making sure my novel is the best it can be, I'll look into mediums to bring to you printed versions available (and I'll probably be doing giveaways with them too).

5. Future Rewards for Patrons (Ya'll)

  • I know there are a lot of lurkers in my Patreon page looking over the posts and reading over the latest chapters and maybe leaving a like every now and then (#sadface), but the poll that I recently sent to all of you was an incredible success. I received so many replies (mostly words of encouragement) and I was really happy about that, but I still wanted some concrete answers, haha.
  • Basically, I wanted to ask you what you all are secretly hoping for in your rewards for being a lovely patron for me. I know that you'd like me to pump out more chapters (trust me, I want to pump out more chapters too), but are there other things that you wanted? I know many authors do discord channels or like weekly Q&A but my introverted insecurities always make me doubt whether anyone would be even interested in attending those. Anyway, if you have the time, make some suggestions!

Maybe memorabilia like tee shirts, posters, bobbleheads, even contest to win for other things and based on reward level you get so many chances to win or monthly give a ways.

A keychain of Silvie’s Fox form or of the volume 1 art would be really cool. Or even one of Arthur in Realmheart

Dunno. Said lurker here, all I can think of is consistent quality and that’s already done so.. maybe more artwork of major characters?

It's funny you mention this! I was planning on ideas for memorabilia after the comic comes out, but physical wallpapers of artwork might also be a good idea too!

Good idea! Maybe once the comic is up and visuals are more active, I might take this into consideration!
