My friends, saying that this autumn tree was the most fun I've had in a long time would be an understatement. In fact, this whole scene was a total blast and the results so far surprised me. Especially the effort/result ratio was strongly on the fun side.

But hey, the tree required some patience, not gonna lie there! I painted the basic colors with acrylics, then gave it a heavy enamel wash, and then brought out the bark texture with more acrylic work. I gave it some moss, per usual, and all of this will be explained in the video. But the leaves! Oh boy, the leaves. These come from AK, I bought them on Sunday, and they arrived yesterday, just in time! What I like about them is the packaging - you'll get a TON of them. I was used to Plusmodel leaves, and you're getting just a handful of them. But here you get a full bag.

And yes, if you thought I glued them individually with a pair of tweezers, you'd be right :D Even those that are on the ground. I chose a vibrant, "early autumn" color for the tree and undergrowth, and dark "late autumn" for the ground cover. However, they looked very unnatural, so I treated each one of them with various rust washes mixed from diluted oil paints.

This was a huge undertaking, but it was so much fun. The scenery is now finished, and I can glue the tank in place. I'm getting worried about those mud puddles because I'm very happy with the results already, and when that's the case, something tends to go wrong during the finishing touches. But let's hope that won't be the case here!

Oh, and of course, I need to paint the two soldiers. They look like ghosts now :D

And important EDIT: I talked with my friend Oscar and the shrubs I collected in Spain aren't rosemary. They're thyme!
