My friends, here's another diorama headed for the display case. I barely managed to finish it in time!

The snow gave me a lot of trouble and I'm not entirely happy with the result, but it's one of those moments when you just take what you learned and apply it on another model, leaving this one the way it is. The biggest mistake was applying it in a textured manner as you'd do with melting snow in a muddy diorama. This resulted in lots of small clumps all over the surface, and although I started connecting them into larger patches, I was too hesitant to cover the ground evenly. But that's probably the best approach if the snow blanket is supposed to be thick and fresh! As I said, a lesson learned for another time. This was all done with Snow Sprinkles and Snow from AK.

The figures from Reskit weren't so bad after all! The pointing tanker had a lot of casting flaws, and I had to sculpt a missing portion of his sleeve, but the details are actually very good for this scale. I painted them rather quickly, and the smaller size made the workflow much smoother, but also, you can get away with harsher color transitions as they'll just make the figure look crispier. But take that from a figure painting weekend warrior!

Anyway, from now on I'll pace myself more reasonably because I really had to rush this to the finish line and it wasn't enjoyable towards the end. And maybe use my brain more and think twice about what qualifies as a "quick, simple project", eh? :D

NEXT? Toyota FJ43 Technical from AK-Interactive somewhere in Afghanistan!
