My friends, yesterday I poured a second layer and left it in a box until today morning. The second pour was the same as the first one, I used the other half of the AK resin (the entire scene swallowed up 180ml of epoxy), but instead of 7 drops of Khaki, I added 6. Yeah, pointless science 😅

The first thing today was removing the tape and I immediately snapped these pictures. Then I sheered off the raised lip of the water where the resin creeped up on the tape and fixed those areas with Tamiya clear varnish. I already tried the Transparent Water Gel from AK on the small crater (pic 3) and now I'm waiting for it to dry to see how the effect looks. The water on my inspirational picture seems to have small sense of movement from wind, and it creates these uneven horizontal waves, so I tried to replicate that.

If it's a success, I'll texture the large crater in the same way, leave it to dry and then add floating debris - grass from sea balls, tree bark, etc. I'll concentrate these around the shore and the tank, especially the rear portion to hide the visible cut under the water surface.

In other news, I made a mistake while finishing the second layer and poured more resin into the small crater. Yeah, the water levels were uneven! Panicking, I tried removing some with a syringe, but once something has been touched by resin, it'll leave a mark. A thick, glossy mark! Oh well, lesson learned for the future. The water levels might still look uneven on these pictures, but there are two additional factors at play - the "bottom" of the small crater is 1mm deeper than the other one and the resin creeped up the tape more on the small crater. After cutting the lip down the water levels look pretty much equal. Phew!

Also, while I was waiting for each layer to cure I started painting the figure. The sculpt is really crude... well, it's not a digital sculpt, but it's pretty rough even if we consider it's hand-sculpted. This affects the overall impression, but at the end of the day, it is what it is, eh? 😁

PS: WW1 armor is beautiful, so I bought a Mark V from Meng with full interior 😁
