Ready for resin! (Patreon)

My friends, I've got the base ready over the weekend. First thing was to create a dam from Tamiya masking tape. I was worried the adhesive wouldn't create a bond that would be waterproof enough, so I heated it up with a small blowtorch and pressed firmly against the wood. The tape was a bit flimsy, so I gave it another layer with a double sided tape to make the dam thicker and more durable.
Next was waterproofing the bottom of the crater and gluing the tank in place. This was carried out with AK Still Water. I applied it selectively in small blobs and spread it with a brush and tap water. It created a glossy crust over the whole surface, so I think it should be enough!
So I could proceed with the barbed wire. I gave the entire PE fret a bath in VMS Black Track Pro and this created a beautiful blackened finish. However, it had a slight satin sheen, so it wasn't perfect, but it created a good base for grey acrylics and a rusty enamel wash. I can already see how the resin will bead up and "crawl" on the wire, but eh... guess I'll have to hide it somehow!
I also finished and glued the loose items, although I haven't taken a picture of those. Additional flimsies on the banks, some more on the tank, discarded helmets, a Lewis machine gun and a wooden crate. And now I'm about to mix the first layer of resin! Wish me luck, friends!
