Running gear = done (Patreon)

My friends, the weathering starts at the bottom. It'll go as follows: lower hull and running gear, then tracks, and finally the upper surfaces.
Since Normandy 1944 is more of a "dry" theme, I'm trying to keep the dark earth tones at bay. Whether it's a success or a fail, well, you decide 😁Generally speaking, the lower hull is mostly hidden out of sight on most tanks, so it requires more contrasting effects. We'll see how it's gonna turn out once the tracks are in place.
The process was, well, simplified. I'm trying to find a quick, streamlined approach to earth tones where the result can be achieved rather easily without too much back and forth between different products.
So there was some AK textured paste involved at the beginning, then some sprinkling with sea ball grass fixed in place with VMS ballast freeze, once that was completely dry I pre-dusted it with a mixture of Tamiya Flat Earth, German Grey and Deck Tan. Then I switched to enamels, my usual Ammo Dry Earth from the Splashes range and while it was still wet, I added stains of Earth (which is the "usual" enamel paint, not textured). I left those two to fully dry and applied a mixture of Earth and dark brown wash into the lower portion where the grass has collected and also into corners. At this point I've also drawn a few streaks of moisture. Final layer was dark brown wash, which was again applied as a pin wash into the grass. The thick paint from inside of the lid was used to draw darker, finer streaks into those created with the dark earth mixture. And that was it! The wheels were the same, just more subdued.
And the tracks are most likely gonna be roughly the same.
The reason for this approach? When the lower hull is 100% done, it's easier to visualize the weathering on the upper surfaces.
PS. I tinkered with the exposed steel surfaces a little bit, added some runs of dripping paint, but that was about it 😁 The right-hand side still looks like crap, so there's gonna be plenty of dust involved.
