My friends, this is gonna be a really big model! And I'm so stoked about it!

But you know what I'm not stoked about? The trademark Takom quality 😆 It's very similar to the Jagdtiger. Now of course the huge gap on the turret was done by me on purpose as I'll fill it with casting seam line, but the hull, especially the back, had some fitting issues. Partly due to the parts not being engineered like on the real tank, partly because the kit just refuses to fit together.

As such there was a lot of filling on the sides, which are meant to be one slab of armor (and the gap would be visible on the finished model), and with filling came rescribing! I also sliced off and replaced the hinge detail on the engine deck, instead of circles there were just rectangles, which is a common thing in most kits as it's easier to mould.

What else... pretty much the basic construction is finished - all the major parts are glued and fitted together. Tomorrow I'll probably continue with the suspension, then I'll add some more details and then the real fun can begin - texturing and welding!!

Also, you have inspired me to get off my ass and start a collection of soviet afghan war vehicles. First up- the t55 with early mine roller then its on to the bmr 1.

Let's see. I might do the Zsu 23 4 next. Ive got that coming along with a Grad rocket artillery truck, the aforementioned BMR 1... looking at Trumpeters 1/35 Hind D as well. Then a Bmp 1 and 2. Another T55 and T72. .. was looking at BTR -80 but haven't purchased one as of yet. Need a transport truck or two as well as a field artillery piece.
