I never bother with the relics, but Alex's comments on "just wait a few months to do stuff in FFXIV" ring true with crafting as well. I always level up my eight crafting classes with a new expansion, only for them to introduce much faster and easier ways to level them a patch or two later... and I still need to do those new methods anyway because it's the only way to get a specific item that every new crafting recipe uses. Hopefully I can run into Alex online when they allow cross-data center travel later on!
