Yes, we do get new openings more frequently (though the Kintoki arc one is an exception since it was only here for the arc itself); it's due to the fact that we're also get serious arcs more and more frequently as the show progresses. You may have noticed that we're getting more informations about the serious stuff going on in the "bigger picture" of the show with for example the introduction of the Mimawarigumi before which, as the former shogun said, is close to the Hitotsubashi faction which is aiming to replace the current shogun. We also know that the Mimawarigumi has ties with the Kiheitai since we've seen Isaburo with Takasugi at the end of the thorny arc. So we're slowly diving deeper into the darker politics happening and even if it can be a bit confusing sometimes with all the names and everything, it makes the show more interesting as we go on.
