Man I love this arc so much, it's my favorite so far in the first season of Gintama, we got huge character development for both Gintoki and tsukuyo. This arc made me realize that even though we spent 181 episodes with Gintoki, we still don't really know that much about him, I don't think that we saw him get this angry and serious before. Tsukki development was also amazing when you realize that she was on screen for like 10 episodes only. Jiraia was a cool villain and I really love all symbolism with Tsukki being the moon this arc and Hinowa as the sun in the first arc. The best part of this arc is that Yoshiwara is finally on flames fr this time lmao.

THANK YOU!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one that loves the fact that even with all the time we have spent with Gintoki so far, he is still a mystery! Seeing that glimpse of his childhood and how he met his master REALLY woke me up and made me realize this man's past was horrific. It's genuinely amazing how he is present day, all things considered.

One of my favorite things about Gintama is that unlike most of other animes where the show is about seeing the journey of the protagonist and how he grows, the way I see Gintama is that it's a journey to understand what made Gintoki the person he is now, when you think about it he's pretty old compared to other shounen protagonists, which indicates to me that he's an already built character but still mysterious to us. Anyway thanks Ez, really enjoying this rewatch + other shows.
