In a Wonderland they lie, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream- Lingering in the golden gleam- Life, what is it but a dream?

- Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

Storytime: I've recently reconnected a lot with one of my highschool friends. During one of our skype calls she showed me she still has pinned to her wall a little pencil drawing I made for her years and years ago, and it really touched me because it's been so long I don't even have any memory of drawing that for her.  Her birthday is right behing the corner and I know for a fact she's really into Alice in Wonderland, so I made her a little tribute (by subtly modelling Alice after her... which I did as best as I could bc I have no recent pictures of her ^^'').

Anyway, I think I was also subconsciously drawn to this idea by my experience of these recent global events. It really feels like we've gone through the looking glass and everything has turned inside out. Speaking for myself, I can say I wake up every other morning with a weird sense of 'oh... right... that's still happening'. Hopefully, this Coronavirus mess will work well as the Wonderland metaphor and shake us all into better versions of ourselves, by the end. And fully expose the clownery and awfulness of the world around us, ofc (it already has, if you ask me).

Anyway, rant over. Enjoy this art! (I will make this available as a wallpaper on instagram in a week's time, for now patrons get early access).
