Hey everyone, I hope you’re well. I want to update you on how my new projects are coming – and also, reading this back, I guess I wanted to vent a little? Lol, whoops:

My next video is tentatively titled “Why People Are Trans (& why we’ll never know)”. It’s in the vein of “Fear of Trans Bodies”, in that it takes this question as a jumping-off point to explore a broader topic: how we learn from questions we don’t have answers to. How we thrive on ambiguity, constructing narratives that can help us even if they turn out to be wrong. The video will be out in late June.

Writing has proved challenging lately, as the storm I wrote about last month has only intensified. There are crises raging all around me – most of which aren’t mine to talk about – and combined, they make even basic tasks feel like walking against gale-force winds. I’m exhausted, and lucky to manage three days of productive work in a week.

With that said, there have been some truly wonderful moments in my research process. Someone on Twitter recommended an essay called “Archetypal Transsexuality” by Rachel Pollack, and it rocked my world!! If the topic of my next video sounds interesting to you, I highly recommend checking it out. (Rachel died last month at 77 – we lost an invigorating, comic-book-writing, tarot-reading lesbian icon.)

I also have my first print piece coming out next month. It’s a long feature about the massive cultural footprint of cyberpunk, and the irony of commodifying such a pessimistic genre. I’ve been working on it since March, and I’m excited to share it with you.

Okay, I’m gonna try to fold some laundry or something. Be well, have a snack, call someone you love. xoxo

2023-08-09 03:02:06 inspiring essay🐞spirituality is such an mysterious thing that i harshly rejected after leaving my church, but have found myself returning to in curious, new ways. turning back to see historical perspectives helps breakup my old ego too, which i think places too much reverence in the status quo. understanding transhood as messy, meaningful, and divine as other phenomena (family, culture, faith, etc.) is such a rewarding experience can’t wait for your printed work ☺️<3

Finally resubscribing after a lost ATM card killed my old subscriptions. Many hugs for you. It’s been a while since I was into cyberpunk. There’s a new (or not so new) genre called “solarpunk,” which claims to be more optimistic. I’ve been too mired in the slog to read any though.

Welcome back! I've heard a little about solarpunk, sounds like it could be cool, maybe I'll check it out
