Hey folks! I usually check in with an update post on the first of every month, but I'm excited about current projects and wanna let you know right now!

1.

After a few months in a mental slump, struggling with writer's block, my next video has finally clicked. I'm tentatively calling it What Are Women? I originally envisioned it as a response to the TERFy/right-wing line of questioning, "How can we protect women if the left can't even define women?"

But it's evolved into something bigger: a look at how gender emerged in society, and the struggle to define it in our modern age. I'll offer some context for the current culture war by examining a decades-old power struggle in feminism: those who think "woman" is a natural category we should protect VS. those who think it's an oppressive category we should destroy. (If you'll believe it, my feelings on the matter are... complicated!)

I'm planning to have it out mid-April, but this thing is big so I'll let you know if it's gonna take longer.

1a.

Whether or not I release a video in May will depend on the extent to which I get hate-mobbed for the April video, lol. Hard to know if the backlash to December's video was a fluke, or how things will be from now on.

2.

June should see the release of three new videos about the urgency of gender-affirming care for trans youth. These will be the fruits of my 6-month fellowship at Trans Pulse Canada, where I've been learning a ton about healthcare and inequities in the trans community.

Each video will run 10-20 minutes, and cover a different facet of the issue - for example, barriers to healthcare, and how we can dismantle them. They'll be exhaustively researched, the production value will be killer, and the videos will include crucial new data that's never been shared with the public! (Maybe that's only exciting for me, as a stats nerd?)

3.

I'm pitching so many projects these days. Podcasts, videos, articles. About queer history, about the crypto/AI art hellscape, about movies (follow me on Letterboxd!). None of these are far enough along to properly announce, but I'm excited to share them one day.

What a blessing that I have the time & freedom to spend my days doing this. Thank you.

As fellow transfolk currently living in Texas, I'm very glad to hear about the #2 project. I'm hoping the new information stirs even more support against our nightmarish Texan leadership, we need all we can get right now.
