How comfy was the Giant Bomb couch? Also for Sarah, was it better or worse than the Minnmax studio chair?

Random thought, if you were to mix in a question from a MinnMax podcast from ages ago do you think the people on the podcast could work out which one was the repeat question? Would be a fun little challenge to do right before best question of the week.

After SGF ended people pointed out the complete lack of female representation on the stage. Obviously there are tons of female developers, and while I don't think it was malicious, it's an obvious mistake from Geoff Keighley. I'd love to get y'alls thoughts about what should be done going forward. Does Keighley need a female co-producer and host to help bring a more diverse representation? How can the community help bring about better representation in this show?

Between the crunch issues, switching to UE, and no longer having an exclusive license to Lego. What do you think is going on at Traveler's Tales? I love the Lego games, maybe I'm a little baby gamer 🤪

Hey, MinnMax! In light of the recent Matt Booty/Phil Spencer interview, do you think gamers would revolt if games became shorter, but focused more on gameplay? With games now taking 5-6 years to develop, something’s gotta give, right?

Hey there! As I was watching the shows this week my wife walked in and said “this is the longest commercial I’ve ever seen.” As a gamer, I’ve never viewed these shows as commercials, but yeah my wife is right, that’s exactly what they are. How did I let video game companies trick me in to my excitement?! Lol

Too many games, yo, too many games.

Did you all get to see Miyamoto walking around in a Donkey Kong mech suit at Super Nintendo World?

On one of the recent episodes, you were discussing veterans in the industry, specifically ones who have remained at one company. Most names mentioned, Miyamoto, Sakurai, etc. were Japanese. In Japan, I hear it’s common to stay at one company, while in the US, it’s incentivized to leave your employer for better compensation. Is it fair to say this is why most auteurs in the industry leave their long-running games in the hands of their old companies? Diablo and Mass Effect are a few that come to mind. Which IPs do you wish still had their original creators?

Hello LA Crew plus Ben! With the drop of the Final Fantasy 16 demo, I’m wondering what your all time favorite demo you have played was (home, conference, on site…)? I think this one took the cake for me. Really enjoyed the combat samples, and I’m already hooked on the initial villain.

Hi Minnmax. Pretend that you were suddenly the host of Summer Game Fest (Sorry Geoff Keighley). You are given magical powers that make what ever game you announce real, and it will release holiday 2023. You can make one Playstation, one Xbox, and one Switch reveal. What games are you revealing to create the most hype and make the most people happy? PS - wanted to let you know my name Juz10 is pronounced like Buzz-10 not Jewz10 :)

Hi MinnMaxxers! Do you think we have hit peak scummy micro transactions, or do you think there is more terrible monetization coming for the gaming world in the future? It feels like it's cooling to me overall, but what do I know? Thanks a bunch! Alex Britt

Hey MinnMax! Since the news came out that Starfield will be locked at 30 FPS on consoles, I started wondering what we were seeing during the Starfield Direct. Do you think all of that gameplay was 30 FPS or do you think we were seeing powerful PC 60 FPS gameplay. Just curious what you all think.

Do you think that people would be better off if online shopping never took off? On one hand you can have pretty much anything you want in 2 days or less without stepping foot outside your house, but on the other - malls are dying, midnight releases are almost a thing of the past, and soon kids may never get to experience toy stores.

I can’t think of a question so I’ll just type in “what” and keep tapping the center auto correct What do I need for that question and I can do a search on it for the answers? Perfect. Just what I wanted to ask. Thank you, iPhone.

Are you going to play Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth with the English dub or Japanese with subtitles? The latest trailer revealed there will be English speakers in the game. Like a Dragon got me into the Yakuza games and I played it with English voices. But going back through the games I’ve gotten used to the Japanese voices of the cast. I think with both languages used, it makes me more inclined to play with Japanese voices.

Hey Ben: Since it might be the last time we see you until August (or possibly forever if this whole thing burns to the ground in your absence. 50/50 chance), could you give us your takes now on all the news and events that will or could happen over the next two months? You'll be missed, ~Adam

I was disappointed to hear that Avatar will be first person. I get terrible motion sickness from first person games, and just can't play them. I feel sad to miss out on this, just because of this design. What do you think are the main reasons for a game to be first or third person? Shoutout to games like Fallout, where you can choose for yourself!

Hey Cohorts, when on a flight, how quickly do you hook into your inflight entertainment?

Hi MinnMax, In every Final Fantasy XVI trailer, we see a logo for the game’s dev team, “Creative Business Unit III”. Are we supposed to be excited when we see this bland combination of words? Nintendo also labels their internal teams with numbers such as EPD4, but they are wise enough not to flash that name during a trailer.

Hey Horts, How wildly inappropriate is taking your shoes off while watching a movie at a movie theatre? Are there any social environments, aside from beaches or other water activities, where bare feet are not frowned upon?

Hey MinnMax crew, Since Illumination's The Super Mario Bros. Movie made $1.3 billion dollars, there are rumours circulating that multiple new Nintendo movies are in the works now by Illumination including: The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, a Luigi's Mansion movie, a Donkey Kong movie, and The Legend Of Zelda movie, what are your guy's thoughts on these rumoured movies? I think a Legend Of Zelda animated movie would work better if it was being done by DreamWorks and the animators that did the Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, which had a lot of Spider-Verse inspiration. Thanks and keep up the awesome work! Sachin from Toronto, Canada (Link to rumour here: https://www.joblo.com/nintendo-movie-rumor/)

Hey MinnMax, with PSone/N64 style graphics becoming more popular with indie devs, what's an era or graphics you would like to see a resurgence of next? Personally I'd love to see more pre render/fixed camera backgrounds like early Resident Evil or Final Fantasy 8.

Hello MinnMax! So I like to give nice hearty hugs to everyone I know, been doing it for a year or so and recently I stopped doing it just because I’ve been in a hurry or something has my attention. Over a week or so everyone has asked me what’s going on and if something is the matter and I found out it was because I hadn’t given them a hug! So heres my questions, do you normally do something with everyone you meet handshake/hug etc and have you ever stopped doing it that makes them ask if something is up? Keep up the great work!

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon gameplay was shown behind closed doors to the press, and an edited version of the gameplay footage was released to the public this morning--ARE YOU EXCITED YET? I'm curious if any of you have thoughts on From Software returning to a 24 yr old franchise after essentially establishing a new subgenre of action-role playing games in their souls-borne lineup over the last decade.

So Starfield… it’s basically No Man’s Sky cross Outer Worlds then? Doesn’t look like you can land anywhere on a planet like NMS and you can only pick landing spots? Only part of that deep dive that got me excited was the ship building. Did Leo, Sara, or Janet get to play and if so… thoughts? Am I wrong to not be excited for this and wish it was just a new Fallout? Where’s the crews hype level cause I think we can all agree Bethesda needs a win here.

Hey all, I can't think of anything video game related to ask. So, what's your favorite doughnut? I like a good chocolate iced custard filled doughnut.

Last week Ben was wondering about the sonic superstars dev, and we may have found out why they were being tight lipped: it’s Arzest, the co-developer of a little game called balan wonderworld. This got me thinking about the beauty in second chances. My question is what dev team out there could most use a redemption arc?

2023-06-15 17:19:16 I cannot believe I heard such slander against such a small indie startup as Apple for such a cheap product as the Vision Pro! In all seriousness I think the Vision Pro, set aside it’s price, is demonstrating what VR needs as is possible right now. VR has been stuck in gaming for years because who would develop a consumer facing program that works best in VR if almost no one has a headset and they don’t want to wear them. The Vision Pro shows a headset that can do your regular work well, can pair to your laptop if you need more power, can be used to immerse yourself if desired, or can be used to become easily available to other so you don’t have to take off the headset if someone in your house wants to bother you. I’ve heard the pass through feels like you’re almost not wearing the headset and the interface for regular apps is incredibly intuitive. It’s battery life is in line with Oculus Quest Pro and Oculus Quest 2, and the battery is plugged in by usb C so you can daisy chain a larger battery or just pass through a charger if using for over 2 hours in a single setting. The technology has compromises but if this was available for $1000 everyone would buy one. If this is what one of the largest companies can do today I can’t wait to see what they can do in 5 years when they have produced enough to lower manufacturing costs and to see what developers do with the apps they make for it.
