On this week’s episode of our Patreon-exclusive podcast Party Chat, Ben Hanson is joined by Jacob Geller and former Game Informer editor Jill Grodt to talk about a handful of tough calls when it comes to managing an outlet like MinnMax. We talk about whether to make this podcast available on Twitch every Monday, the right level of ad support for an independent podcast like MinnMax, and a whole lot more. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

If you want to join the Party Chat every single week and talk to us about what you’ve been playing, watching, or ask any question under the sun, jump up to the MinnMax Council tier! We’d love to hear from you. Party Chat is recorded each week in the Discord, there’s a Stage called MinnMax Party Chat. You’ll see it if you join the $20 tier. Jump in there and you’ll be good to go. Let us know if you have any questions!

If there are people like me who stick to YouTube and typically avoid Twitch, there must be Twitch people who avoid YouTube. Put it up on Twitch and grow the community!

If you're going to start streaming it on Twitch, I'd appreciate if those of us that get the podcast audio through Patreon also got a link to the VOD on YouTube or Twitch too! I prefer to listen to my podcasts that way instead of an RSS feed when possible.

I'm not sure if this would get too confusing, but you could potentially just pick and choose which ones to stream on Twitch. Specifically for situations like the GI Layoff talks or ones that might be too inside baseball for a live broadcast. I'm not a $20 dollar supporter so I can't speak on losing the benefit of getting the live video version. But I choose to support Minnmax on Patreon because of the content you produce, not specifically because of an added benefit that I get from a specific tier. (Although I do appreciate the backstage pass).

Why not split the baby with Game Champions/Every Game is Interesting and give everyone the opportunity to have a 140 character statement on their game read once per month at the end of a podcast. For July that would have been about 10 games a week, and would bring attention to the polls/bonuses of subscribing without turning the podcast into a giant ad-read of games from 20 years ago

FYI I just rejoined the $5 tier for Party Chat access. Also ads are kinda gross but I love yall and want you to make $$$ sooooooo...

If you guys are going to hand select some games out of the game champion thing I think I'd prefer you to make your selections at the beginning out of the entire pool of games, rather than at the end when the community has voted it down to a couple of the most popular ones. Maybe something like MinnMax people pick 4 and take the top 4 from the community vote. Then have the the champions of those 8 games write a a little bit about why it should win? Then a bracket of those 8?

As someone who recently joined, I really enjoyed this discussion. You have a professional and put together brand, but there’s also something nice to knowing you’re also trying to figure things out constantly! I never watch anything on Twitch, and I joined to support your work, not for the tier rewards. I’ll occasionally watch YouTube content, but the podcast content is key for me.

Just want to emphasize how much I agree with Jacob on the point of ads. MinnMax sold me on becoming a Patreon years ago, so of course I want you do ads and become more successful. However, If I was just tuning in, I would assume that having ad support would mean that you don't need another Patreon to join to keep floating. Also, Ben needs to make his animated Sun and Moon sex scene public.

I joined to help support and to get more access to everything in podcast form. After joining the best perk is access to party chat in podcast form. It being on twitch would not effect me but definitely love listening to this every Monday. #bringbackbetterquest

Maybe this is a bit late, but just wanted to chime in that while i love the video content I mainly consume minnmax content in audio form and a big reason for me joining the $5 tier was the access to all the audio versions of stuff!
