About this console war, my question is more logistical about gamepass and other subscription services. Do we not hit a tipping point where we have too many of these things and don't wanna pay for them anymore. All of them are raising prices or have tried recently, that'll more than likely continue. And finally although Microsoft has the fiscal capacity to take a loss while they get everyone on board how is it sustainable at that price if they wanna make games on the scale and size of Sony. Will it be a Halo/forza style model where yes you get large chunks of content for free but are swimming in micro transactions? Can they give a spider-man/last of us/God of War style game away for free? Will the developers get enough to make that worth it? For how long can Microsoft do this without charging people more. I don't deny its a great deal for everything indie/double A Xbox has access too at the moment. When they start to swing big with games single player transaction free will it continue to work? Will they try an add more revenue streams to those single player titles? Will the integrity of the game in question hold up? There's many variables in this subscriptions business, how do you all see this playing out over years?

Is console war still the right way of phrasing it? We are decades away from "Sega does what Nintendon't" and "BLAST PROCESSING" etc. Does this impact the way we, as consumers think about each console? Are kids still arguing in the schoolyard which console is better? It seems to me like the £70 marquee games wouldn't illicit the same debates as one console having street fighter, and the other mortal kombat etc.

G'day all, What do you feel is the most satisfying thing about playing games? For me back in the 90s when playing JRPGs the most satisfying part of gaming was arriving at a new town, getting upgraded gear, meeting new NPCs and maybe getting a new team member - always so satisfying! These days I think I get the most satisfaction from creating an awesome build, generally in rogue-likes (Dead Cells, Hades, Slay the Spire), when you manage to create a build that just clicks so perfectly together, it's very rewarding. Other ideas for discussion: Solving a puzzle Beating a hard boss Leveling up (numbers going up or getting a new ability) Big story moments Getting a kill in competitive online gaming (or winning a Battle Royale) Playing with friends Cheers Ben

Hello MinnMaxers! What used to be a popular gaming trend that everyone just forgot about? Motion gaming for example, or Xbox/Sony avatars for another. Abrams You So Much!

Hey MinnMax! So when i was a kid I would play a nascar game on ps2. I don’t know what the game was called. But I would start the race and go the wrong way on the track. I loved trying to cause the biggest wreck I could by slamming into all of the cars head on. Am I sick for doing this? Did anyone do anything like this?

I was listening to some folks on another podcast recently saying with a fair amount of confidence that Microsoft and Sony would not bother with releasing a Switch competitor. My question is...why shouldn't they? It seems to me Microsoft in particular could market a really compelling product in this space. Imagine a "Series P" in 2-3 years that essentially runs the Series S version of Xbox games in a handheld form factor. Seeing what Steam Deck is doing at a $399 price point in 2022, it's not hard to imagine this being plausible. I know they have been pushing Cloud as the solution here, but I think there's room in the marketplace for something like this as another option and Microsoft has been churning out tablets forever now, so how hard would it be to slap some joysticks and buttons on one and brand it as an Xbox device? People have been talking about brining Game Pass to the Switch, but what if they just did it the other way around?

Hi Cohorts, I've recently been trying to get over a mental block I have with JRPG's. I'm big into anime and ffxiv and kingdom hearts 2 are both in my top 10 games but for some reason I always bounce off a more traditional turn based jrpg before i can sink into the systems. Are there any game genres that you feel like you should really enjoy but for some reason you bounce off of?

I don't wanna throw the metaquestion but , is there even a Console War anymore? I think the whole industry shifted to making games available on as many systems as possible , since it's not profitable to locked them into one system. Games get on Early Access on Steam , then on console then on Switch or the other way around, Sony publishes on steam , I play Forza Horizon 5 on my phone.... and I love not missing out cause I don't own that system!

Hey all, Is there any game soundtrack that (1) you liked more than playing the game itself and (2) stayed in your head waaay beyond what can be considered a reasonable amount of time. Follow up question, have you ever had to try and explain what and where a game soundtrack comes from? Examples for me include The Last of Us, a game I loved but havent played since 2013, yet the soundtrack is still with me. I also had to explain where the Hades soundtrack came from to friends at my birthday party recently, as they aren't really gamers, I got some solid looks of confusion

Dear Ben and the so and sos, have you played Rifftrax The Game? What the Dub was on Ben's top list last year and MST 3K was mentioned on the podcast a while back, so this game seems like a perfect match. My wife and I played a few rounds and it seems cool so far. Thanks and keep on keepin' on!

Hey Minnmax! GamePass was pretty much the deciding factor that I would pick up a Series X first. I'd like to eventually get the PS5 for exclusives a few years down the road but I'm happy with my choice. What feature or reason besides exclusive games would sway you towards one console or another?
