What are some of your favorite door designs in video games? I randomly remembered the articles from a couple of months ago discussing about how difficult it is to make doors work in video game, and wanted to show some love to gaming's gateways! I'm partial to Peach's Castle doors in Mario 64 myself.

Hey Crew, With the recent announcement of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown remade in RGG Studio's Dragon Engine, do you think this is a sign that Virtua Fighter 6 is in development, or is this more of a one-off passion project since Virtua Fighter can always be played in the Yakuza games? If the franchise is planning a comeback, why then would Ultimate Showdown be exclusive to PS4? Then again, Sega does have a history of releasing timed exclusives such as Yakuza Like a Dragon on Xbox and Judgement on Playstation. I'd definitely play it if it were coming to Xbox since I don't have Playstation. How do you feel about Ultimate Showdown?

Ladders seem to be notoriously difficult to get right in games. What games have done ladders correctly, if any?

Hi everybody! If real time strategy, simulation and first person shooters have inherently better controls on PC, what genres or games do you believe are better played on specific consoles? Are there games that you believe are better controlled on xbox over playstation due to the controller, or vice versa?

Why isn't there more backlash about Skyward Sword's Amiibo DLC adding a feature to a game? When Ubisoft charges for double XP, and other features, I see outrage everywhere. Activision, EA, same. Outrage everywhere. Nintendo does it. People may briefly comment on it, and move on. No boycott threats, no greedy Nintendo. It's just "Oh well its Nintendo."

Hey CLCs, It’s the end of the school year! At the time of writing this, 13 school days remain. I decided to end the year with something fun, creative writing! Welp, most of my students are in love with anime, video games, or nerd-centric stuff, so a lot of the writing sounds like fanfiction. Another student of mine is writing about Amy The Hedgehog being on trial for the murder of Sonics' new girlfriend. So my question: What are your thoughts on fanfiction? Have you ever written any? Best, Sean

Hey Cohorts! There are plenty of game studios in the US, Europe, and Japan. So many that it is almost as if those regions have a stranglehold on the industry. What do you think it would take for other, non-traditional regions to become major players on the world’s gaming stage? I’m thinking India, Southeastern Asia, or South America for example. Cheers! With more places and opportunities opening up I'm wondering what is something you did this past quarantine year that surprised you. I remember watching CNETs Scott Stein replace his switch's outer casing and it was nerve raking. I personally replaced a bunch of light switches and outlets in my house and only got a little electrocuted.

Kind of a dark question, but what celebrity or personal hero death affected you the most? Jack Terricloth, The lead singer for my favorite band, the World/Inferno Friendship Society, passed away two Fridays ago and I'm still in shock that I'll never go to one of their shows again. The band was far from super popular but they are legends in the North East. With love, Jason Wojnar Uhhh, I guess you could file this under the "getting better" category

Is there a long running game series that you find too intimidating to get into or is there a storied franchise that you jumped into a modern release of who's features or story beats were fresh to you but series regulars find common and uninteresting? The Legend of Heroes series is mine, nine 100 hour JRPGs with overlapping story is a heck of a hill to climb.

Hey CLCs! Following up on the book conversation from last week, what one person from the games industry (besides Andy Mac) would you like to read a memoir from? You can't pick anyone who's already written one, but besides that, the sky's the limit! Personally, I'd love to read a deep dive into the history of JRPG development from either Yoshinori Kitase or Hironobu Sakaguchi. Tim Schafer would also be a lot of fun, as would someone like Bennett Foddy. Side-note: had a blast watching Leo play through Thief 2 last week and am always down for more Twitch streams of older games. Thanks for the great content you all keep putting out!
