Juba’s intro is amazing. Stoked for this!

I know he's probably busy but I was convinced Javy was a lock for this. Very excited to get stuck in

Exciting Deepest Dive! Can't wait to tune in, should be a great trilogy of videos.

So do we submit comments for the first episode here?

I had the same question. I made it to the stopping point and I’m taking notes! I have a few comments.

Hey everyone. I'm guessing the timeline will be clarified, but is the May 31st entry to read Noveria, Feros, and Therum, as Therum is not listed anywhere else or are we pulling the rare, someone goes quasi-crazy?

In addition to the above and as I have not yet actually left a question for a Deepest Dive, I have thoughts on the User Experience and Gameplay Improvements that are below and that I may leave again if I see an additional post! *** User Experience The original Mass Effect acts as a stepping point into not just a new game or franchise but an entire universe that did not exist before. The team accomplishes this task not only through compelling characters, designs, setting, and plot, but also through the user experience. This term is not just “user interface” in another light, but is that pang of music on the start menu. It is the accessing Alliance military files to create your Shepard. It is seeing the Normandy take flight through the Relay flinging the ship to Eden Prime. It is the expansive and constantly updated codex, with some of the major articles voiced. It is the variety of aliens once you hit the Citadel. These elements transported the player (and me) into this universe in 2007 and still transports the player (and me) into this universe in 2021. *** *** *** *** *** Combat / Gameplay Improvements Upon my return to the original Mass Effect by way of the Legendary edition, I was curious how these “improvements” to the combat system would work. I had not played the original game in all likelihood a good ten years, yet I had played a substantial amount of the first Mass Effect back in the day (I did get each of the teammate achievements, and probably completed the game at least three times) and a lot of Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 multiplayer (I think I only played through the story once on three). Thankfully by Game Pass, I was able to test out a bit of the original Mass Effect to compare. The most notable combat improvement, which may actually have been so improved to a default, is the sway reduction for sniper rifles. It was one thing in the original game where if one was “untrained” in a weapon class that you virtually could not use it (after all, I was used to the RPG approach to combat where in TES Morrowind you would be right on top of an enemy swinging your sword at the enemy’s head and hit only air), it is another to the point where there is virtually no sway when scoped in. Now, I’m not entirely saying this is a bad thing. It most likely is a byproduct of the original game not having a “breathe out” mechanic and the high cost to input that mechanic in now and thus sway is simply removed. An additional mechanic is the auto cover system. Besides the cloudy graphics (i.e., not as sharp), increase of film grain, and the massive sway in the sniper rifle, the cover system was an additional element that was cumbersome. The original game requires the player to “crouch” to get into cover, however it is not very smooth when compared to the later games in the series or more recent games that have mastered the cover-based mechanic (e.g., Gears and Division). In the Legendary version, cover is now an auto mechanic that is fairly intutive in the early going and hasn’t got in the way of the Insanity difficultly (we’ll see how long the difficulty stays there). Combat is still cumbersome in comparison to the masters of the genre these days, but when one looks to see where Bioware was and where it would go, combat in ME1 Legendary is not something that gets in the way.
