Hey MinnMax-ers, After watching David Jaffe's .... ugh ... "animated" reaction to last week's interview with Jason Schreier, it got me thinking about what goes on behind the scenes in the video games industry. From your experience are there some underlying tensions between developers and critical reviewers? Or on the opposite end of the spectrum, do you find it hard to critique/discuss negative press that your industry friends are directly involved with? As an aside: It's interesting to see the more human side of the industry. Its easy to think of "Naughty Dog" and "MinnMax" as these separate emotionless entities. We forget that we are all just humans stumbling through this world trying to make the best of the things thrown our way. Keep on stumbling gang I think you are doing great!

Hope you all are having a good day. Anyways I was just thinking about the limited editon ice blue game boy pocket. Which eerily released shortly after the ice storm of 1998. Nowadays I am pretty sure it was a coincidence that it launched than. But it's timing was prefect as the I Survived The Ice Storm of 98 memorable was all over new England. Heck even Nintendo Power had an add that advertised it as such. So my question is has there ever been another console that possibly received a special edition do to a natural disaster? Or was this a very unique case?

How do you do, fellow gamers? Have you guys ever replaced a bad habit with a video game? I've been playing a lot of RuneScape on my phone, which helps stop me from anxious Twitter scrolling. I think this is an improvement?

As somebody that played a hell of a lot of RuneScape back in the day (and has been dabbling in OSRS recently), RuneScape is always a bad habit XD

When a game's main menu says "Press any button to continue", what button do you press? I prefer to test this statement by starting with clicking in the analog stick and then the D-Pad. If this doesn't work, the game is immediately a piece of trash in my book, I don't like being lied to.

Howdy intrepid heroes, Realistically, have we peaked with controller setups? Four face buttons. 2 sticks. 1 D-pad. 4 shoulder buttons. And miscellaneous start/select/screenshot buttons. Obviously controllers grew from a 1 button 1 stick Atari controller and slowly evolved over the years but it seems like we reached a consensus that where we were at in the PS3/360 generation was about as far as we needed to go. Even the black and white buttons from the OG Xbox went away as we just didn't really need it. I couldnt imagine a controller in the next gen coming along and saying "look how much better we are than those competitors controllers - we got 6 shoulder buttons and 5 face buttons." Sure there are slight differences today like the barely used Playstation Trackpad and other console specific tweeks, but if you had to bet - is the controller we're looking at today more or less going to be the same controller we're gonna use to play games in 50 years? Thanks Bob Buel

This Saturday I am seeing a movie at a movie theater for the first time in ~400 days... that Demon Slayer movie actually with some old buddies and my wife, and I am absolutely PUMPED(D&D session to follow, where a bunch of grown men act like freaks). When is the last time you guys enjoyed a trip out to the movies? Things are slowly but surely returning to a pre-COVID state. ALSO, what is your big post-COVID bash going to be?

Hey Benny and the Minnettes? So Sony has apparently seen the error of their ways and will keep the PS3 and Vita stores up.......for now.(RIP PSP) In their blog post, they say they "found a solution" to the expense and maintenance required to keep the stores open. Do you think they actually figured out a way to cost-effectively keep them up for the foreseeable future, or is that marketing speak for "Ya'll shouted loud enough and bought enough games on there, we decided we could keep it open awhile longer"? Or, third option: do you think maybe they've figured out some backwards compatibility system for PS5 to migrate most of the games over, they're just not ready to announce it yet?

I used to smoke a lot of cigarettes but games have taken over that habit

I thought I would share a story from when I was in high school. When I was a freshman I had this friend that introduced me to marijuana, and we had a really solid friendship. He stayed at my house whenever things would get rough at his. One day I come home to discover my ps3 my mom just got me was stolen. If memory serves me right it was the “second job $600 ps3” I was so upset and asked everyone around who did this. It was about 3 days later that I find out my “friend” stole it and sold it for weed. When I confronted him about it he said “yeah man we’ve been smoking it for the past two days” My question is have you ever been robbed? Happy day after 4/20!

Hey CLC’s, Just like Ben can’t stop thinking about Wallace & Grommet — I can’t stop thinking about my favorite childhood game, Ooga Booga!! Have any of you played this masterpiece? The Dreamcast was my first console and I felt like it had some real hidden gems unlike any other games today... what is your experience with the Dreamcast like?

Anonymous

Toy Commander deserves an honorable mention too, great game — torrid some may even say! And for those unenlightened, Ooga Booga is like a 3rd person arena/KoTH game with spell pickups on the map and rideable wild animals :)

I was happy to see Sony decision to keep the PS3 and PS Vita stores open. I know I don't buy many of these older games, but I do still like picking up a PS1 classic form time to time. What are some of your favorite 180 decisions made by console makers or developers? Are there any you would still like to see happen?
