Hello CrossFade-rs, and welcome to the show Matt. I was delighted to see that you had worked on the Probot album with Dave Grohl. Do you have any stories about the process of putting that album together?

Song this week: Bon Jovi-Dry County. A great, epic ten minutes. What is everybody's favorite "long song".

What's your guys' favorite live performance? Not overall set, but singular piece of music? My song recommendation this week isnt live, but the live performance on Stop Making Sense is my favorite Life During Wartime - Talking Heads https://youtu.be/_NywTcGOUkE

Are there any artists you feel like you should listen to more often? I've found over the past couple years while I've been introduced to many bands and artists that I often enjoy, only a handful of them will become mainstays in my regular listening habits. Song suggestion: "The South" by John Louis https://open.spotify.com/track/2jdHK53odqdNiPhRm1s2uU?si=L9OG2J8WSgaLuSyt0F24mw&utm_source=copy-link

As somebody who has been in the studio both as a part of a band and as a producer, how important is understanding music production for bands and songwriters? What do you hope a songwriter or artist knows and understands about the production process in a studio before working with them and are there any reading materials you'd recommend about music production? Song recommendation: "Kolyska Vitru" by Sofia Rotaru. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqnZmvTVXeE

Matt Sweeney, How has the pandemic effected collaborating with other artists for you? Song choice is Bizness by Tune-Yards https://open.spotify.com/track/08oSPuXfichvi5VRAaewbV?si=_vebYsyKSeCFFZRAUzrXbw&utm_source=copy-link P.s. Can you give a shout-out to cohort JeffM to encourage him to finish red dead 2? 😉

What was it like working on the American Valhalla documentary with Iggy Pop and those guys? The album and doc seem to deal in very heavy subjects despite how much fun it looked like the band had putting it together. Song of the Week pick - Sound Of Victory by Andre Antunes, an artist who went viral last year taking public meltdowns and turning them into prog riffs on YouTube https://open.spotify.com/track/2i868V0JGTUg5r2oPqXAB5?si=-_7LC0c7TvasN8MD22ZKgQ&utm_source=copy-link

This is probably the oldest average album age in Crossfade history. I've mostly felt more attracted to newer music, but you guys have really given me an appreciation for some older music, either through something like: 'I hear now that many artists I love like Bat for Lashes are just huge Kate Bush-fans', or some 'This 70's album is just so cleanly and warmly produced'-stuff. Have you guys generally preferred newer or older music? Did it change as you aged?

How did everyone listen to the John Phillips album? It’s been the first album or song on Crossfade I couldn’t find on the big streaming services. Settled on listening to an ad laden version on YouTube.

I always love Poets of the Fall's contributions to Remedy Entertainment's games as the Old Gods of Asgard. I found them through Alan Wake but really fell in love with their IRL discography afterwards

Probably a bit late now but I also want to thank Matt for all his great interviews with artists on Noisy, really loved the ones with Josh Homme and Lemmy from Motorhead
