This is not a call for questions for The MinnMax Show podcast, this is for CrossFade. On this Friday's episode of our music podcast CrossFade, the guest is Game Informer editor Blake Hester and we'll be covering My Chemical Romance's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and Deerhoof's Apple O. Subscribe to the podcast in its own stand-alone feed and listen to the albums to get ready!

On every episode of CrossFade, we want to involve the Patreon community as much as possible. So please leave a question or discussion topic below and we’ll read some of our favorites on the episode! Also, please leave a link to your current favorite song or a song you think is worth dissecting and we’ll include it in the community playlist on  in Spotify.

We’ll be pulling questions on Wednesday afternoon. Thanks everybody! And just a reminder: CrossFade won’t be on YouTube or in the Patreon exclusive feed, it’s a stand alone podcast feed that you’ll need to subscribe to.

CrossFade is our music podcast hosted by Matt Helgeson and produced by Jason Dafnis where a guest has Helgeson review one of their favorite albums and vice versa. You can subscribe to CrossFade on your favorite podcast app, new episodes are released every other Friday.

And for an update on The MinnMax Show, we're recording The MinnMax Awards episode (the different categories) of the podcast this week, you can watch us debate live at the Backstage Pass tier on Wednesday.

Then the next two weeks on the podcast are The Game of the Year Debates, otherwise known as The Two Tens! We'll be recording those episodes early, technically on Friday December 18th and Monday the 21st. So folks at the $10 Backstage Pass tier will get EARLY access to the debates and winners. Please don't spoil the lists in the Discord ahead of time.

Also, since all of our Game of the Year episodes will be unnaturally long, we won't have community questions on the rest of the podcast for December. There's always MinnFAQs as an avenue for addressing big questions!

How much does a friends preference for an artist or album affect your opinion? Or do you prefer to have discovered it some other way so it’s especially yours? Song: Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold

Hello hello Crossfit Faders, Sorry autocarrot seems to have been a problem and I rolled with it. When you are exposed to new music and find that particularly emotionally or intellectually stimulating song/album, are you like me and you repeat it until your ears bleed? Asking for a friend. -Geoff aka Groffles

Hello, I've been obsessed with this song from the Ikenfell soundtrack https://youtu.be/D409ZK3lxWU Thanks, Tactical Dreamer

Hey Cross-Faders. This question is for my hip hop heads. Who would you consider to be an underrated rapper? For me, Big L, ShowBiz and A.G. come to mind. Both having a short career, yet their lyrics and style is so unique and I feel they don’t get enough credit. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu6OAhAy6Xc

My song recommendation for this week is "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees, because I'm simply stunned at the amount of people who know nothing about this band's pre-disco stuff. It's just as magical but in a whole different way. This one, "Holiday", "I Started A Joke", and "New York Mining Disaster 1941" bring me to tears every time I listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHtGu0OGEpc

Thanks for the Juice Wrld call-out. Person who suggested it and Matt for some context. I had opinions about him without listening to his music. Got to stop doing that. Including a song that did the same thing for Kendrick and Tech: https://open.spotify.com/track/7L3YDa0Fd8pmzpAyu6EKOS?si=sOa2B2PiTgGOOggbiobIww

With regards to the Three Cheers album I just want to say I've always thought it was sweet that Gerard basically speaks of the song "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison." like a love letter to Bert and thier Friendship on Tour together. At this point in my Life (COVID as an aside) I don't think I would want to be on Tour and gone from home all days of the Year. But there was once a time that felt like a dream. What are you alls thoughts on Tour Life and if it would be as glamorous as sometimes portrayed or not? Also here is what I am listening to: https://open.spotify.com/track/1hAiYJ5uctHWaDbM0kWQWb?si=poD4tnQvSiOg-T8KcuAleg

I don't have too much to say about MCR. In their heydey I had the same opinion of them as Blink, they're for emo girls why would I listen? But in recent years I'm come around big time on Blink, but not so much for MCR. That said I did always like that last album they put up. "Go" is super catchy and a great video game song for the titles that used it. Favorite song right now: Tonite by LCD Soundsystem. Everytime I hear it I'm wowed by its cleverness. https://youtu.be/lqq3BtGrpU8

Thanks for helping me re-listen to Sweet Cheers for the millionth time. One thing I'm thinking about is how Gerard in particular helped those who wanted to mess with gender roles whether they were trans or not (Gerard themselves has in recent years opened up with their gender issues https://gwaypositivity.tumblr.com/post/121552734393/what-we-know-of-gerards-gender-a-masterpost). How influential was MCR and Three Cheers for your conception of what masculinity does mean or doesn't mean? Or did it largely not phase you at the time/now?

Lilypad- Cory Wong. Or literally any project he’s involved with because they’re all super enjoyable and he’s local to MinnMax. https://youtu.be/eL8YeGs4peU What local music group or musician would you suggest to somebody out of state?
